This is somewhat an interest of mine, I want to know what mythologies you ladies and gentlemen prefer. And why you like them, what about them make them interesting to you?
If it'll help, think about it in a way of.. What sort of setting would you MUCH rather play a game set in? And I mean all of it magical beasts to gods all of it.

I'll chime in later with my own if the thread picks up but I'm strapped on time for right now.

Being a Nord, I am of course biased, but Norse mythology is my favourite.

I like the aesthetic of it. I like the characters, and I like the stories (well, what few I've heard).

If we're talking about video game... Islam.
With the exception of strategy games, i don't remember ANY title that touched this subject. Sure, there were Muslims/Arabia/Allahu Akbar in the background but that's it.

It would be interesting to play in such setting.

I'd rather play a videogame based off Norse mythology since that is filled with mighty warriors and such.

Though as far as favorite I'd have to say Greek/Roman. Tons of stories, tons of characters, lotta sex and hedonism and down-right dirty fun. Also the gods were, in general, a bunch of incestuous bastards who f'ed around with humanity just for the hell of it.

Oh, and another good choice you forgot to mention (or more likely ran out of space in your poll) is Egyptian. Got some good stuff going on there as well. :p

I think you mean "Arabic", because Islam is Judeo-Christian.

Otherwise, this poll is invalid.

AGH! You're right, I was trying to remember what I was going to put down but I had like a minute before I could leave and I don't know why Mesopotamian came to mind, I'll see if I can edit it.. No idea if I can.

No Egyptian mythology? Oh come on man, that shit is out of this world crazy. Seth murdering Osiris and in turn, being avenged by Horus (I do believe, he castrated him. If my memory serves me correctly) is one of many interesting stories. Oh and Sobek, the crocodile god! Nothing more badass than having human simpletons feed each other to crocodiles in your glorious name xD.

Haha, but from the options here, I'd have to say Greco-Roman. Greek mythology in particular is very interesting and varied.

EDIT: Ah, there is Egyptian now. There wasn't when I made this post.

Edit to delete double-quote. Quoted once, read another post, accidentally quoted again before making my statement. :p

Let's not forget that the Egyptians believed that Ra would carry the sun across the sky in a giant canoe every day. :p

Please, kindly remind me, what religious system paved the way for "Judeo-Christianity" ?
Was it Zoroastrianism ? Akhenaten's variation of Egyptian beliefs ? Gnostic systems ? Animism ?

My favorite is Greek, because the gods in it are irresponsible jerks who mess with the mortals for fun. plus Zeus has had so many affairs with mortals, and Hera still never left him.

Ahh, it's hard for me to choose they're all great in their own way.

I might have to give it to the Greco-Roman men, because they had a good hold on literary methods that are amazing for a narrative, as well as being badass in their own way.

I still love my Norse, but all they have is badass and hyperbole..
But I guess when it comes to Loki getting it in the behind by a Uberhorse, then birthing an eight legged mini-horse and giving it to his dad as a present.
And Zeus turning into a Swan raping a chick who lays an egg that hatches the chick who is the cause of the Trojan War where everyone dies...
Zeus wins.

Set using semen to solve problems, is the best problem solving method.

Greek-Roman for me. King Mino and the Birth of the Minotaur was my favorite story. I should probably brush up on it though, been a while since I read it.

Im a fan of all mythologies, but the one that fascinates me to no end is Hinduism. The iconography, the concepts, the stories. You know the first mention of an atomic weapon comes from The Mahabharata, one of the two great epics of Ancient India? I mean, how do you beat that?

I like it a little more when media makes up its own mythologies, but I think it'd be interesting to see a game really showcase some Egyptian mythologies. I can't think of any that have besides maybe some Civilization games or something like that, which I don't really like. On that note, anyone have any games that do include Egyptian mythologies?

What would I like to play a game centered around? Probably Norse. I just don't really like most of the mythologies up there, and I've already played so many Greco-Roman/Egyptian/Medieval English games. A nice Norse-based game would be fun.

No Celtic love in the poll?

I'm hurt.
Thought you could only have 8 options in a poll. However, I would be in support of dropping Judeo-Christian/Hindu/Islamic/Asiatic for a Celtic option. :p

Gotta love me some Celtic Mythololgy.
