A new trailer for Resident Evil 6 has been released (if you haven't seen it yet, you can watch both trailers here - [link]http://eclectic-review.blogspot.com/2012/04/trailer-resident-evil-6-captivate.html[/link])

My question is - does this trailer make you more, or less, interested in the upcoming Resi title?

There's no new gameplay footage - and it's gameplay that I'm really interested in so on that point this trailer is rubbish.

On the other hand, we learn that the bald bloke who's been punching zombies in the face is none other than Albert Wesker's son!

So STORY HINTS = win. GAMEPLAY HINTS = fail?

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to the new Resi game, or did Resi 5 kill any interest you had?

I haven't even played a Resident Evil game before, but this looks interesting.

Looks like it's going to focus on story given those trailers and look at dose purdy graphics.

I might get it depending on if the gameplay turns out good.

Edit: I forgot to mention this but the guy pronouncing "resident Evil" at the end kinda ruined the trailers but also made me laugh.

While I don't know jack about the story it was still an alright trailer. The previous one was better though.

Well I'm sure it's exciting for Resident Evil fans but it seems like the same old thing again, which is why I haven't been a fan since the first one.

More, I'm just as hyped for Leon and just as disappointed in Chris. However instead of being indifferent towards the bald guy, I'm interested in him being Wesker Jr.

Also we now know the blonde chick in the first trailer is indeed Sherry and not Ashley or someone else.

To be honest, one of the main things I loved about Resident Evil 5 was Wesker. So over-the-top, so hammy but so awesome! Sure this trailer throws in a Wesker Jnr. but I somehow doubt he has the same hunger for scenery that made his predecessor so great!

Gameplay wise this trailer gives a resounding 'Fuck-all' and I'm still kind of confused about what the story is other than the usual "Mad Scientist unleashes zombies on city". Still looks kind of interesting though...

More of the 'da new shit'

Zombies will have guns now.

Series has been crap since #2.
What was wrong with Resi 3? That and the second game are the only two that I feel have any real value. The first game hadn't quite found it's feet in providing a great gaming experience whilst the games that came after I felt were either a little too clean looking, or just plain in the wrong genre.

But Resi 2 & 3? Absolute classics. Among some of the best games available on the Playstation that hold up well even today.

Totally agree with your defence of Resi 2 and 3 here.

Resi 1 was kinda quaint but it did suspense and was one of the original "survival horror" games - so credit to it there.

Resi 2 and 3 built upon that and had great stories, settings and a whole bunch of stuff to do so they stand out as some of the best games on Playstation for me too.

Other titles, like Code Veronica, held my attention but weren't particularly good.

I really liked Resi 4 - it was a shot of energy into a dying franchise that was both gorgeous, intense and great fun. Sure, it wasn't very scary (especially when a Spanish dwarf is one of the big bads!) but all-in-all it was a pretty awesome title.

Resi 5 was a MAJOR disappointment for me. Managed to be both unoriginal and made the "action-horror" from Resi 4 feel stale. It was just.... all.... bad.

Hopefully Resi 6 will learn from those mistakes:

- Don't have an annoying partner who's as easy to work with as a terminal illness.

- Make the shooting/combat slick and tight, while the lame controls worked in older games to add to the tension, it DOES NOT work for over-the-shoulder shooters.

- Stop trying to be controversial/sensational. Resi works when you're uncovering details of science experiments gone wrong in a house in the woods. Having blockbuster crap every 5 minutes gets tired and ruins the pacing of the game (admittedly Resi 4 did this to some extent).

Only time will tell if Resi 6 will = Resi 5 and a bit OR Resi 4 and a lot

...Well, there are only 11 votes right now but the majority are excited. I think that's the first time this has happened since maybe Arkham City.
