I'm... I'm so confused. Is it even hentai if it's made in the west? Are we talking about western cartoon characters, or are we talking about western takes on eastern characters? Or a western artist with a eastern style? Why am I suddenly bleeding out of every oriface while Latin chanting echoes is the distance?
I... Can't really think of any western porn artists. I'm not sure I can think of any eastern hentai artists either. Ah, fuck it, I'll say Chris Sanders and call it a day.

I love Western porn artists, and the things they can imagine up and put online. I've been looking at Japanese hentai for a long time now, and while the variety is decent, it just can't measure up to what has been made by Western freelance artists. Not just variety in topics, either, but in art style, body types, and yes, even fetishes of every niche.
And now,I'm going to take this topic a step further!
Going off the above opinion, I believe that it largely has to do with the difference in variety of things we have to base our art on. Japanese pop culture, while certainly imaginative and colorful, is still largely limited to humanoids and divine/demonic humanoids. And tentacles, but really, if you've seen one tentacle monster, you've seen them all.
Meanwhile, State-side, we have... more. More and more varied. I'm talking about furry art. Not just art, but animations of all kinds, from hand-drawn sketches to loops to short pornographic movies using Source Film Maker!
How do I know these things? How do you think?!

When exactly did people start referring to all erotic art as hentai? It's like saying all cartoons are anime now. Outside of Japan they're not treated as synonyms, but are instead used as labels to describe their origin and/or visual style. It's just weird to say "Western Hentai."
Just call it what it is: Erotica. It's a better, fancier, and sexier word.

I must say, asking people for their favorite artists is a novel way to solicit porn suggestions. It sure beats saying "Hey, I need more porn. What've you guys got that's good?" You've built in a little deniability as to your true motives. Are you also asking on behalf of friend? It is common courtesy to list your favorites in situations such as this, though. You know, a little quid pro quo? Tit for tat and all that.

While I prefer western artwork because of their highly diverse styles, expressions, and the fact that at least there are some artists that ACTUALLY do decent female furry and monster porn, I kind of do think that japanese hentai is more superior due to them having some of the best ideas and scenarios for sex, even though a very large portion of it is rape and the like. I just choose to ignore those.
However, lately hentai has been in the shits for longest time, especially games and ovas. They just seem to be caught between to camps: depressingly grim/dark rape and boring vanilla incest; they just stopped being enjoyable fantasy and started to become this psuedo-realistic dark nightmare fuel that only someone with a FUCKED-UP view of women could enjoy. I once read someone stating that hentai is basically female torture porn, while there is far more to it, that would be a remarkably concise definition of it.
