I've been building/fixing/trouble shooting computers for a little over 10 years now started off preferring VooDoo cards and then Nvidia bought them out and Nvidia has always had my dollar. ATI's actual hardware in most cases are comparable but the support for ATI has been sub par to say the least plenty of experience with corrupt drivers from the site or the site just not having the driver at all especially with older cards Nvidia still keeps the older drivers up on there site which is always handy for computer nerds who still mess with older cards/systems

I have an Nvidia GTX 260 Maxxcore 55 in my desktop. So I'll say Nvidia, although I haven't really looked at ATI.

I personally have never used an ATI card before, but this is keeping in mind that I've had the same exact computer for almost 5 years now.

It's got an Nvidia Geforce 5600 FX (I think that's what it's called) in it right now, so I'll vote Nvidia.

I also find Nvidia a lot easier to understand due to their number system being a little more logical (6 > 5...yay!). However, I'm not a computer expert and would consider myself relatively new to the whole graphics card specifications thing.

ATi is who I have always chosen. They can always process more. However I will say that nVidia has better shaders. ATi always stays cool though (you can tell the difference even, my room is always cooler then my stepbros room, he uses nVidia, I use ATi (and I overclock, he doesn't).

Overall it depends on what youre looking for. Faster processing of bigger loads: ATi. Better looking graphics that sometimes lag a bit (but not much, it wont kill a game): nVidia.

Although I hate that now ATi is owned by AMD...always hated AMD

Nvidia all the way, ATI drove me away after 3 notebooks, they NEVER updated their drivers and I'd be forced to use 3rd party drivers. They never, ever updated a single notebook driver when I had their cards, I used Omega drivers which while they worked great (except with Half Life 2 at the time) it was still irritating to see a huge lack of support on their part.

I know that they were bought but still I'm not about to go back when I've hand no problems with any of my nvidia cards and all problems with my ATI cards.

I'm running a XFX (Nvidia) GeForce 9800GTX+ and yet again, nothing but great things to say about it.

Yep, Defiantly Nvidia, used a ATI card a few years back and gave me no end of trouble so i went crawling back to Nvidia and thats who i will always stick to. but yes they do run rather hot but then again they are more powerful than ATI cards.

I hate that ATI is owned by AMD now too cause I love AMD and dislike ATI and now they are releasing more combo mobos with ATI I've use both Intel and AMD more AMD thou and AMD always run better and faster as long as you have the proper cooling cause they run hotter then Intel

I have always used nVidia cards, until now, I switched to ATI because I could upgrade from my 8500 to the 4650 cheaper than going to the nVidia 9500, the comparable card. So, I switched to ATI, and so far have been pleased.

I have an ATI, as outdated as it is, it seems the NVIDIA one's are cheaper and better, so I say NVIDIA.

I have NVidia now but I'm thinking of possibly considering an ATI for my next gfx card upgrade.

I run ATI. Cheaper and the performance is sublime, I haven't had any problems. It runs cool and silent.
I've got two Ati Radeon HD 5850s. Good stuff.

Personaly I'm not fussed, as long as it works and runs top end games then I'm happy. I did have an issue with nvidia with my last laptop however. It kind of totaly fried the whole laptop somehow.

That being said, My current laptop as an ATI and it works so much better than the nividia's i've had in the past, so perhaps I'm slowly taking sides
