Do you ever find yourself at home, work, etc daydreaming about something more exciting happening in this obtuse, routine-oriented world of ours? even if that "something more exciting" is an apocalypse? I sure do!!! Countless times my friends and I have discussed what I would term "the best apocalypse that could happen", and it's a conversation that never gets old. That's why I would like you, yes you, fellow Escapists, to comment on what you believe would be the most advantageous or fun apocalypse that could happen!

PS: Feel free to add any suggestions to the poll as there are a practically infinite number of cool ways in which an apocalypse can occur!

PS again: Zombie-alien invasion-apocalypse now a poll option!

*Realizing I should've replied to my own thread in my first post

I would definitely choose the zombie apocalypse.

How cool would it be to gather up your friends (that are still alive), conglomerate an arsenal of weapons, pick the most secure spot you can think of to bunker down at, fortify the place, and kill some zombies?!

Giant meteor, so I could sit on my roof and watch as it comes crashing down, it'd be amazing to watch.. and then I'd die, fun stuff.

Yep. Nothing traumatizing at all about being in near-constant fear for your life, and killing fundamentally innocent ex-civilians for the remainder of your days.

OT: A series of massive storms would be interesting. The planet shaking us off like the fleas we are.

Why not a mixture of Alien Invasion and Zombie Apocalypse?
Aliens try to invade the Earth and during the invasion they resurrect the dead as zombies! It's got all the fun of a zombie apocalypse with all the futuristic technology we can steal from the Aliens

Meteor Dropping onto Earth, that would surely be the least scary Apocalypse death.

alien invasion what with its heroic last stands, inspiring speachs and sudden massive upsurge in the number of badasses sounds fun

When I watch movies based on these scenarios, the character most like me is either the first one to die or the last one alive. So any of these things would be a gamble.

Zombie apocalypse by a long shot.

Sure, billions will die. Sure, the planet will be overrun with rabid shells of former humans that may-or-may-not be hostile to wildlife. Sure, hell will break loose.

BUT.

There is also a legitimate chance of a resurrection of the old world. If a million or so people survive, then I'd say there'd be juuuust enough genetic diversity to keep the human race chugging without any major genetic glitches to make is crippled by disease and parasites.

Meteor? Pfft. Every single cell on this planet's fucked.
Aliens? We're all either slaves or destroyed so Earth can be harvested for resources.
Nuclear apocalypse? Same as the meteor, except a handful of people would live for a few more months (IF that) in mortal agony.
The war thing? What? Of all of those options, that's the one that wouldn't ever happen under any circumstances.

Zombies.

I'm going to be slightly clichéd, and say zombies. There's a reasonable chance of my survival and the human race's recovery, and possibly increased international collaboration as a result of the outbreak. Actually, it would kind of be a giant reset button for civilisation.
I suppose any super-disease would have much the same effect. I'd quite like to survive, though!

The Apocalypse. The Biblical one. Now, that would be interesting.
I second this. plus if you live through it there is 1000 years of peace, nice payout if you ask me.

Zombie alien apocalypse. I'm torn between the two, so why not have both!

As impossible as it is (see: the Cracked article on the subject), a zombie apocalypse would be awesome because instead of having to focus on surviving the aliens, or fallout or etc, it could be more focused on murdering everything (until you become a meal). Way more fun.

My thoughts exactly, a ZA would be both the most fun way to die (in an apocalypse) ever! Zombie apocalypse seems to be the clear winner at this point, but with the new option of alien-zombie apocalypse-invasion, we'll have to see how long it can outlast the opponents.

Chances are you would never know it was going to happen till just before. Space is big and a rock the size of the moon could easily sneak up on us... as your day is happening and the next second you are vapour, if even that.

Agggh, fun wrecker! If we all knew it was coming, I'd pick that then. :D
