Hey everyone! I know we all enjoy the holidays. Especially all the comercials! But all I ever see is Christmas comercials. Shouldn't other holidays be comercialized, like Hanukka and Kwanza? What do you think?

If I had to choose, I would say comercialize all of them or none of them.

I'm not religious or anything, but I don't think ANY holiday should be commercialised. Because once a holiday (IE: Christmas) becomes about something else, then people forget the true meaning behind them (IE: The birth of Jesus)...

I don't know anybody who celebrates Kwanzaa, so I doubt there is a big enough market to capitalize on. But both Christmas and Hanukkah are very popular and businesses can capitalize on these and exploit them for a profit.

If you want to sell your product well, you aim your advertisements at the majority.
Christmas sells better than Kwanza. It's just good marketing.

It really doesn't bother me. I honestly think that the only people who make a fuss are the same morons who try to pin every negative thing in the world on ridiculous 'anti religious' things like gaming.

Let them be commercialised, then accept the commercialisation if you want to and celebrate it (or don't, that's fine too) in your own way.

I'm an atheist, I have no affiliation with any religions nor care about them, but Christmas brings a lot of business to retailers and joy to children etc. so if other religious holidays were commercialised I can't see how we wouldn't benefit from that

Actually, Jesus was not born in December. Historians believe that he was born in the summer sometime. Christmas was put in the winter because of the winter solstice, and its importance in Pagan rituals. In Europe, they used this to say, "Hey! You can still celebrate your Pagan holidays, but this way, we don't have to kill you!" It was basically used to gain followers in Medieval times.

Oh yea, by the way, don't forget that comercializing can also mean selling items.

Or it could mean just telling you to celebrate the holiday(s) with your family.

And yet Jesus was Jewish.

If only Jesus were born on that day, not in the spring. But that's what you get with one religion destroying, and picking up the pieces of, another religion.

OT: None, it sickens me.

In for a penny, in for a pound. That is, if you're going to commercialise one then you might as well do the same for all of them.

...or none. Honestly, I don't care much.
