I don't know about most of you, but if I were to ask Bethseda just one little thing, JUST ONE, it'd be for them to make a (Optional)patch to remove those hideous spiders from the game. Now, before people start posting criticism please note:

-I'm Arachnophobic.

Some of you might post: "O'well, it's a game deal with it."

I've dealt with it in several occasions but in Skyrim spiders are 6 feet tall and jump on your face. NOW I know regular spiders do that IRL but they usually don't go over 4-6 inches. Arachnophobia is serious and I' FOR ONE think that if Bethseda were to make such patch they'd be removing the poison of one of their best games.

If you agree please leave a YAY or Nay to the thread thy's read.

-I speak for the Consoles good sires and m'ams.
-I know of said fan made mods but sadly I can't use them.
-Did I mention that the patch should be "optional"? I don't want it removed for all players, specially the ones that don't really care about it, just a simple DLC to remove 'em for console players if they WANT.

there's already a mod :)
also, doesnt your fear of them make the spiders such a great enemy?
im terrified of bees/wasps, so whenever im pounced upon by one in a game it gives me great pleasure to overcome it. (for example the giant wasp queen in the first fable)

Just download the bear mod. Turns all the spiders into goofy bears.

There's a mod for the PC that replaces the spiders with bears. If you're not on PC, well I suppose you can email them or something.

Dude, check the TESNexus, there's probably a mod for that. That is assuming you play PC, if you're console that kinda sucks.

There's no reason to bother Bethesda with it when you can get a mod to do it yourself!

Assuming you are on PC of course, which I do because you said Patch, and not TITLE UPDATE. XD

I'm not arachnophobic and I still fucking hate those spiders. I was fine for a few days, but I think it started because this happened-

I walked in a room, looked around because there was shit there, and then I realized spider sounds had been playing. And they sounded too close to be in a different room. Being genre savvy, I slowly looked up- two giant fucking spiders on the ceiling right above me.

In later areas you seem to see them less and less. It's not too big of an issue.

It's always cool to have options, but I feel like this is a lesser necessity compared to the inability to slap the annoying little kids for being shits. Personally, anyway.

Aw, why would you want to remove those cute little guys?
"I just want a huuuuuuuuug!"
I doubt Bethesda will implement such a patch, even if arachnopobia is fairly common. The good news is that spiders don't appear all that often in the game outside of certain dungeons. Besides, isn't it somewhat cathartic to kill the object of your fear?

I feel more sorry for players who suffer from herpetophobia (fear of reptiles). They have to live with the near-constant dread of random dragon attacks.

Spiders are not the most, I guess, most frightening thing in that game. But to want a patch to remove them... shit, grow a pair or dont play it.

Notice how NOT EVERYONE wants them removed? That's WHY I recommended an Optional patch, if thy don't like keep thy spiders, if thou' is shitting bricks, let them be banished. (removed)

Why would he "grow a pair"? Testicles are vulnerable points that can be damaged easily.

And you obviously aren't an arachnophobe. You cannot just, as the saying goes, "grow a pair".

I'm arachnophobic myself, but normally game spiders don't bother me. These... kinda do. Not like a picture of a real spider (even "cute" ones) where I have a near heart attack, but more on the level of being near a house spider in real life (basically uncomfortable with an aversion). I admit I've put effort into working on my fears, which I think all people should do when afflicted with a phobia. It's a long, slow process, but I think it's worth it since it's started generalizing to other bugs seen up close and personal. Phobias can do that. Still, I think it's more constructive to just pick them off with arrows or magic than it is to turn them into something else. It is, after all, a game. Consider it a way to train yourself for real life. Otherwise you could go to a shrink and pay out the nose for basically the same service if you want to try VR treatment.

I'm arachnophobia, but for whatever reason, it only effects me if I see a spider in real life, or at least am convinced one might be on my person. I've never had a fear of spiders in games or the like. I've personally actually volunteered to research them and the like in school, due to thinking of the adage 'knowledge of something will make you less afraid of it'.

Actually, at least for me, the idea of them being large and easily seen makes them a bit less scary, even though I know 'logically' that I should be more afraid of a 10 foot tall spider compared to a little itty bitty thing that I could mash into atoms by walking on it by accident.

You really can't remove every little thing that people have a personal dislike to / fear of, even in optional patches. Really though this kind of thing is exactly what Bethesda games were made for: Mods!

Now I just wish I had a powerful PC, so I wouldn't be forced to play it on the Xbox... :(
