So EA has removed Dragon Age 2 along with any DA2 DLC sales from Steam aside from Crysis 2 which is old news.

Many think EA's attempt at a digital download king of the hill game is laughable, while some think that Steam users are whining that not all games are going to come to their 'tried and true' gaming hub.

Where do you stand?

Update: EA now claims (in a similar fashion as with Crysis 2) that Steam is to blame for DA2's dropping from Steam and that Steam's services "limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content".

If this is truly the case, why are more devs not dropping Steam as a distributor?

Steam will win. It has way too much of a head start over Origin, is better than Origin and Steam isn't run by childish gits.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong but could you not just buy an EA game from a retailer then put it in your Steam Library as a non-Steam game?

Battlefield 3 is not going to be on Steam, and even if you get a retail copy, you will still have to use Origin.

I'll use Steam, since I've used it for years and it works great. EA can try to compete, but they'll need to do better than a horribly-optimized copy of Steam. Plus the fact that they're trying to force you to use it just pisses me off.

On the sidelines with some popcorn. But yeah, I'm rooting for Valve all the way. No way am I giving EA my credit card number after they got hacked by some script kiddies.

Steam, I guess, because the only good EA games are the Dragon Age series and to a MUCH lesser extent the Mass Effect series, where Steam has tons of games I enjoy.
Granted, I dislike most games by both companies, but Steam has me access to tons of non Valve games so I'm fine.

Yes. You can do this with pretty much every application on your computer, I believe.

The one thing I dislike about Bioware...

They are tied to EA

I've just realised I'm going to HAVE to use origin for TOR and ME3...

fuck

Mmmm, valve vs ea?

Valve, duh.

Not to mention I already have 148 games on steam (and about 8 on impulse) and don't feel like installing yet another digital distribution system.

EDIT:

Better than being tied to microsoft. At least now they release on more than just the xbox.

Fuck indeed. Maybe they'll be availeble through retail without the need to install origen.

This will happen:
1)Steam will do more sales in order to run Origin out of digital market
2)One of 3 things will happen:
>>>a) Origin is actually good, or will lower its price and survive: we all win
>>>b) Origin sucks and will not survive: back to status-quo, no harm
>>>c) Origin still sucks but will survive anyway by pulling exclusive bullshit:
>>>>>>>i) EA games are actually good, and we are willing to put-up with such BS: At least we get good games. Isn't it what's all about.
>>>>>>>ii) EA games sucks: who give a hoot about not being able to buy crappy games?
3)No matter how this turns out, it's a good things that EA is doing origin, whatever inconvenience there is will by compensated by the fact that STEAM will probably do for sales in response to Origin. I'd say we all win even if Origin sucks.

Like Valve does with it´s steam titles ^^(Doesn't bother me just had to clear it up).
But yeah my vote goes to steam since they just seem less evil all around.

However I welcome Origin if only to make the steam team to give us more features faster.

I think I might buy a cheap game from Origin to try it out, but I have 54 games, 28 friends and good history with Steam there is no way I will switch. If anything I will just use both of them.

I have 162 games on steam. I don't give a shit about any EA product with the possible, small exception of Sims 3 (still available on Steam). It should be clear where I stand.
