Is it just me that senses the slow but steady loss of ingenuity and originality of 'his' games? Or were the old ones such as the first Rainbow Six, not as good as I recall?

Whoops mis read.. nah i think they are getting better and better, maybe not the Splinter cell games but the new one coming out seems to have turned that tide

Personally i love all the Clancy games, Las Vegas and Endwar currently are my favourites.

They aren't bad games, but I'm glad I rented most almost all of them instead of buying. The only ones I own are the Splintet Cell ones, which I love. The new one looks fucking amazing.

I like his series. Not nearly as much as Metal Gear Solid, mind you, but Tom Clancy makes pretty good games. Conviction looks much better than I expected.

No-doubt that Vegas2 was a good game, completed it multiple times lol, and Hawx, splinter cell & endwar looked good and did have some appeal (enough for me to rent) but I never really felt anything from them that would make me play them over their gaming-rivals

Haven't played many of his games. But the ones I've played are decent. I got bored after a while. RSV feels a bit generic, and the Splinter Cell game I bought is boring as hell.

Frankly I think every game he's made so far is absolute garbage. The ones that aren't convoluted and cliché are slow, boring and unimaginative.

Here's hoping they pull Conviction off and it ends up a true gem.

This pretty much sums it up, courtesy of Maddox:

I love Splinter Cell, and the original Ghost Recon was awesome, both of those have gone downhill.

I preferred the older Rainbow 6 games, the way they used to be before they were all about that damned cover system, I used to LOVE those. Speaking of Tom Clancy has anyone else read any of his work. I've done Rainbow 6, am working on Hunt for Red October and will be reading Sum of All Fears afterwards, and I've found them pretty good. The characters are three dimensional without being melancholy, which automatically makes them better written than most everything post 2000 (ok not EVERYTHING but alot of things).

It depends on the Tom Clancy game. Some are overrated yes, although they are all infinitely better than his books, even I, a book worm so overstuffed that I go mad if I don't read at least 1,000 pages of literature a day, despise his over worded, poorly written attempts at writing fiction. The games I do like: Splinter Cell 1 and 3, and Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2. The others didn't impress me, none of them impressed me storywise but I found the ones I did list to at least be fun. But then again, if anything bearing the name "Tom Clancy's" ever impressed me in the Story department, then I must be possessed by Jesus.

Oh, and Joshimodo: I <3 Maddox, and that's a classic of his. :D

I like Rainbow 6 vegas two a lot, but I don't really like the other tom clancy games. I've played a few, and, call me a retard or a simpleton, I found them too slow paced and difficult. (mostly the splinter cell games.) I don't mind slower pacing, seeing as RPG games are my favourite genre, but they're slow in a different way. I don't know. I just can't do stealth.
