Poll: PETA declares furs heresy

Yup, so this is a thing:

PETA(People for the ethical treatment of Animals) has penned an open letter to Games Workshop, asking them to stop modeling fur pelts and cloaks onto their models. They specifically mention Leman Russ and Warmaster Horus and others.

Now of course its silly. Not only are the models made from plastic, its a fictional universe at that. Now I understand what they mean. Chapters like the Space Wolves literally glorify themselves in hunting down wolves and bears, killing them and wearing their furs. I understand why PETA would take issue with that in real life, and this is more a grab for attention and artificial outrage in the 24hr new cycle rather than an actual effort to get GW to remodel nearly 1/3 of their lines.

But Space Wolves aren't real. And the models are made of plastic. This seems like a waste of their resources.

Also of note, Noise Marines and Flayed ones who wear the skin of humans on their bodies? Not mentioned in the letter. That apparently didn't raise PETA's ire.

Wrote it in the comments for Arch's video but aren't Thunder Wolves technically evolved humans? Knowing PETA they don't care a lot about cruelty to humans (or cruelty to animals they themselves cause).

It depends on how you view it. According to the Thousand Sons they are. Mutants who changed their own DNA to better live on Fenris after their ships crashed there.
But the Space Wolves deny that and there is very little evidence of it.

This is actually a bit tame by their standards. They're just asking them to stop promoting wearing fur, they didn't stick almost-porn pictures in it, they didn't hassle domestic violence victims or anything.

Now, sure, ignore them as usual, but I see little to condemn them for this time.

You know something else they oppose? Helper animals, like seeing eye dogs for the visually impaired. Also, pets in general. Yeah, no matter what else you think of them, that should tell you everything you need to know about them.
