Hello people, before you flip I'll present myself. I'm an AC fan from Italy who's been thrilled as anybody else for chapter II being set in our beloved Venice.

Here comes the angst: yet a long way from stopping us from buying the game, the improvedly ethnic voiceovers from the latest E3 movie has been bugging many italians. Hence this pacific protest (all I want to to do is to make the problem known).

Those voiceovers are not real italian. It is the speech of italoamericans immigrants as The Sopranos, wrong both in accents and words usage. Venice had its own separate language back then, but really even just normal italian would be fine. American "itarian" is not, quite inauthentic and cheap.

Of course, only an italian speaker could discern it: all others would ignore the problem if it wasn't for this protest. Most won't even care, but it's right for us to say something. Which is: please use actual italians for the italian voiceovers, it's not rocket science Ubisoft!

If you support this, please sign the petition:

While it might be nice to have it be authentic in voice acting im not making that big a deal about it..all im caring about is the damn game and how it plays

Honestly? I don't care - especially when changing the voices now would delay the game...

In the first game the main character had a Midwestern accent. Now the main character has an Americanized version of the accent he's supposed to have.

Maybe next time his accent will be authentic, I personally don't really give a damn.

It doesn't even matter anyway. You don't know what kind of accent people used in the past and given how quickly accents such as Midwestern, Canadian, and American Southern have sprung up I'll bet that it's not the same as the modern.

I'll make yet another point..not many people really care about the dialogue in games...sure they make fun it if it sounds stupid and like the dev team just pulled random people off the street gave them a few bucks and said "hey read this" but other than that no one really puts to much emphasis on that sort of thing. If you do then wow you are extremely thick in the head

They already have a ready made excuse too - it was the animus!

Ehm, we do... it is taught in schools. >_>

To prevent time wasting, the protest suggests to use the italian localization voices already being done. Thx for your attention.

The animus is broken and Lucy did it with a sledgehammer while Vidic was having a nap in the confrence room

I added another comic to the first post.

Alas the petition is slow: people don't believe Ubisoft will listen. :(

Duh, It's a petition.

Petitions ultimately do nothing. The Petition to get Jar Jar Binks killed is an example of this. This is because Petitions are merely fans with a common ground signing on a non-legaly recognized document. They won't effect company desicion because there's no consequence either way.

Lol, the title reminded me of the Pizza Hut pasta commercial that they said fooled "real Italians."

In all seriousness though, it would be nice to have authentic Italian voices in the game.

Ummm, no it isn't. I've never seen any school that teaches what accents were used years ago, since there's no way people could know, since recording equipment wasn't around until at least the late 1800's. Which is at least 100-150 years after this game is set. So your point is completely wrong.

I prefer it when films/games have actors speak the actual language and subtitle it rather than have them unrealistically speak english, even if it is a hollywood film. such as apocalypto, how much would that suck if it wasn't subtitled but they spoke english.... it would be like watching a disney film. all authenticity would be lost.
