I got SoulSilver today for the UK release, and about 10 minutes in, you can tell that you could go through the entire game without have to press any buttons at any point, using only the D-pad and touch screen.

However, as I'm left-handed, I find it very awkward and uncomfortable to hold the stylus in my right hand, and can't really use it effectively with my left. I really don't think it would've been that hard to include a mode where the buttons (ABXY) worked as the D-pad. I'm wondering whether anyone else thinks the developers have missed something here.

The thing is, I don't use the touch screen for anything. You don't have to...Just play two handed, I guess.

They should, though. they include it for a lot of other games...

I guess I just hate feeling like I'm missing out, and you can cut so many corners with the stylus. It just grates on me.

Amazing, someone's copy actually arrived today, mine didn't, so I'm quite pissed, considering it was dispaced Monday, anyway.

On Topic, I never use the stylus for Pokemon games, one of those things that comes with playing them from the start I guess, I'm ambidextrous but favor my right hand (don't take that the wrong way) so yeah, no biggy for me but I can see where you're coming from. As far as I'm aware it's not a particularly huge problem for it since it's just the Pokedex and maybe a minigame? but if it is, I can sympathize. Don't take my glare of jealousy as a sign of me not being sympathetic.

O.O

The best part is, I actually only ordered it yesterday morning! (Without any paid 'next day delivery'. Just the standard '2 day' mail.)

Thank you. It isn't a particular handicap, but it would've been so damn easy to implement. That's my issue.

Enjoy them like the originals, with buttons and D Pad and thinking that holding down 'B' made catching Pokemon easier.

I held 'A' when the ball was thrown, then 'down' and 'B' when it hit the floor and started rocking.

I'm sure it's still a 100% guaranteed foolproof method.

Oh, my epic capture of Registeel proved it wrong. Oh so wrong. That took FUCKING HOURS.

Most of those hours for me were spent learning braille.

I never thought of it, and probably never will again. I don't sympathize, but I will say 'well, just play two handed like the other dinosaurs who've been playing since the system was the size of a brick and the graphics were akin to an Etch-a-Sketch.

My childhood ended the day I realized that didn't work.

I still do it though...

I remember thinking that sort of trick worked on how much damage was dealt in battles as well...

It's obviously because lefties are Satan's minions, and deserve to suffer if they refuse to use their proper hand.

You sound like my first teacher.

Well, if this is anything like the Pokemon that I remember, it is the single slowest-paced game ever. Of all time. You could set it down and switch what you're doing with your left hand and not have to worry.
But the fact it's so slow make you want to move things along quicker, and they accomodate most with the ability to do so....

Im also a lefty and bought my copy of heart gold today. ye its not ideal, but being left handed makes alot of things awkward. Its a right handed world folks so if you happen to be born with a right sided brain you gotta ambidex up or accept that some stuffs gonna be awkward for you. Such is life.

I'm ambidextrius, so I don't really care if there is a lefty-switch or not, but I'm thinking that it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I mean, you could use the stylis, or you could just poke the screen with the fingers of your right hand... just saying. Never really thought about it tho.
