the railgun from Quake 2

holy shit that gun

(in multiplayer of course, in SP the characters are about as big as a fucking truck, so you won't miss them)

it's a sniper, without zoom and that shoots really fucking fast (and it's very satisfactory to use too)

but holy shit does that gun takes skill

This seems to focus on Blops, but regardless.

I say the Bolt action rifle, as its single shot, than a several second delay to cycle the bolt.

I'm gonna say shotguns. See, with any other type of weapon, it has some form of range, so you can hide behind something and shoot. But with a shotgun, you need to be up close and personal. Most cases, that leads to a serious condition known as death. Thus, you need to be more crafty (or at least quicker with your trigger finger) with a shot gun.

hard to say, it depends on the situation.
Yeah. Using a shotgun effectively in an open field would take a lot of skill, whereas if you have a scoped bolt action rifle then it would be a simple task. Now place the same weapons in building and it reverses.

Any pump action shotgun.
If the first shot doesn't catch them in the face or is powerful enough to kill them with a chest shot, they will usually gun you down instantly.

Which is why I always use a pump action shotgun in any game that has one

Battle Rifle in Halo 3 (and I guess by extension, the DMR in Reach).
No way man, those guns are ridiculously easy to use.

When you shred an entire team at close range who attacked you with dedicated close range weapons you know somethings up.

The skill arguement is dumb, still if I had to pick it would be shotguns.
Though it depends on the game, if its something where it takes a lot of rounds to frag someone (Halo, Gears of War) than its just a matter of charging someone down. If its a game with a lot less health (Bad Company, CoD series) then shotguns require a bit of thinking and ambushing to use properly because they are usually so outshined by superior and more versatile options.

Pistols, few games that allow it to be more then a weapon of last resort.

On top of that it usualy comes with a small fraction of the ammo your main gun is supplied with.

HL's gravity gun. Catching a flying grenade and shooting it back right into the face of my opponent never failed to make me think 'cool' ;)

Anyway, I'm going for pistols, a lot of the time when you're low on/out of ammo and you have to pull out a pistol, it's a very desperate, last ditch effort move. If you can rack up a high body count with your sidearm alone, which takes a lot of precision aiming and fast reflexes, then I think that's the best show of skill out there.
