(This may apply more to JRPGs since I've found that WRPGs especially on PC can be modded and have their lifetime extended after you beat it.)

Am I the only one who feels slightly depressed after finishing a really good JRPG? Its gotten to the point where I stretch out the last parts of the game because I don't want to finish it, and say goodbye to my characters.

I've been putting off finishing Megaman Legends 2 for weeks now because after I beat it I'll have no more Legends to experience. I'm going to play Tales of Vesperia and hope that I somehow get over this PRD syndrome.

So does this happen to you and what games specifically?

Hmm, Fable III certainly (if you can classify it as an RPG). Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 3 and Kotor I & II.
Just sad that they have to end...

EDIT: Oh dear God how could I forget ME & ME2!?! /whimper

No, apart from games like Fallout 3 where I can't play after I've finished it.
You can if you get the Broken Steel DLC.

OT: I felt that way in ME1 since you can't do anything but restart after you finish, which I'm glad they fixed in ME2. Not much to do, but at least you can still hang out on the Normandy and talk to the survivors, as well as spend time with your love interest.

Every Fallout game - I know they can be played after completion but the way I go about it there's not much else to do once I finish.
But yeah after completing FFVII, FFX and Kingdom Hearts (1/2) I certainly went through some depression. But they were absolutely ages ago and I'd like to think I'm beyond that now!

(I don't think I am...)

I think its fairly normal to have a slight mood dip after finishing any game that you've been properly into... I know I certainly do, best cure is to find the next game to obsess over :)

Yep, any good story-driven RPG leaves me at the very least melancholic, sometimes slightly depressed. Feels like a friend just left town. I take that as a sign that the game I just finished was good and I came away from it with a lasting positive impression.

I highly doubt you're depressed; just feeling a little sad that you have finished. But yes, I have had this; if I'm anything to go by it'll be gone in, at most, a day.

Yeah.

I even felt that way with Star Ocean 4, and I absolutely hated most of the characters. But mostly I just really hated Sarah and Lymle.

But after 60 hours with them, knowing that it was all over made me sad...I'm not the type to 100% or replay JRPGs, so once they're done, they're done for good.

And you don't want to see the blubbering fool I was at the end of Dragon Age.

A huge exception to this is Eternal Sonata's overly preachy ass.

For fun:

How long can you last in the above video? Can you make it the full 10 minutes?

Yep, theres Valkyria Chronicles 2 out now on the PSP, VC 3 has been announced in Japan, but the DLC has been on PSN for a fair amount of time now, its a nice little addition that makes the game last a bit longer.......but once again leaves you wanting more.

The World Ends With You (if not already evident)
That game has the best combat of any JRPG I've ever played, and the story was mysterious and very engaging. I like how they set 'target' challenges to unlock the extra records and the hidden cutscene, which didn't have much but was interesting, but damn I wish there was more...
I suppose there was just so much left that COULD be touched on to that story's world it just felt like they should have.

You know ive kinda been wondering why that seems to be more of a cultural thing.

You see WRPGs where DLC or modding is almost mandatory, but Jrpgs DLC or modding is almost an unheard of idea.

Dissapoints me, cause I really REALLY wish there was some DLC in the works for Demons Souls.

VC2 only on the PSP? Aww darn T_T And #3 looks to be PSP only too. Excuse me while I sulk a little.
