I find myself in the midst of a conundrum when I consider voting for Obama a second time. Practicality rises and falls on the golden scale, weighted against my irascible need to believe that a clever man who covers with a veil of pretty lies his more unpleasant intentions is no better than a slightly-deranged fellow who largely admits what he seeks.
Obama never closed Guantanamo Bay or Baghram and now we've bombed five or six middle eastern countries without any war declarations or forewarning in many cases. He never opened or permitted, suggested or persisted in making a case against the previous administration for war crimes including torture, illegal rendition, the shredding of habeas corpus, privacy laws, and as we've seen in New York we've no apparent right to peaceful protest. The president remains silent on this but he's beggining to reel off his bulls@*t talking points again, getting into 'election mode'. Lord knows I'm going to be vehemently against whomever the right nominates from the current field.
But how can I vote for this guy again?
