Have you ever felt pressured into buying a game? Saw all your friends playing it, or perhaps they told you to get it, and that was the mainr eason you got it?

There has only been one such occasion for me. This was when I went to buy Call of Duty 4. All my friends were playing it, and so many of them were telling that it was an amazing game or whatever, I felt it would be a good idea to go and buy it. It turned out to be an alright game anyway, and all games since have been bought at my own discretion.

But, have you ever been in a similar situation? If so, go ahead and vent it, if you so wish.

Yes, a friend of mine pressured me into buying Aion.

It's a great game, but I don't think it will bring down WoW =/

It was COD4 in my case too. In all honesty, I still am not a really big fan. Don't get me wrong, I have fun playing COD4, but I'd much rather be playing Halo. Still, most of my friends are big COD4 fans, so I bought it to play with them, and end up playing it a fair amount. I suppose I'll probably be pressured into buying Modern Warfare 2 when it comes out as well.

No. If anything, tons of people telling me to buy a game just irritates so much I'll likely not buy it. Most of my friends have PS3s anyway, so it's mostly more them telling me to buy one, and I have to constantly keep telling them I don't want to.

I suppose I'm just immune to peer pressure.

I was in Gamestop browsing and i wanted to leave with a purchase, but my friends had been waiting on me, so i buckled under pressure and bought World of Warcraft, 2 years of my life right there. . .

Two games come to mind, the first was Half-life 2, we were going to have a Lan-party at my house and I was the only one who didn't have HL2 yet.

The second was not so much them forcing me to buy a game as it was them buying me the game and "forcing" me to play. This was WoW.

My mom constantly told me NOT to get Morrowind because of the *click-click* sound when you lock pick. It always annoyed her back when I had it on X-Box so she was less than enthusiastic when I asked her for help ordering it online.

I felt obligated to get Mega Man 9, due to its significance in Mega Man history. However, I've never been a huge Mega Man fan.

The Legendary and Mythic map packs on Halo more than the game itself. And look now, I could've gotten them on ODST and saved some money.

Nah, not really. My brother and I always end up agreeing on what we'll buy beforehand. I don't really care what everyone else is playing unless I wanted to play it anyway.

I was pressured into buying Monster Rancher for the GBA and Yugioh for the GBA back in middle school when monster rancher still had some popularity in the states and when yugioh was popular (And didn't fuck up it's own rules set)
