Maybe you've heard of Prototype maybe not. Let me give you the background info.

Ok theres this dude called Alex and he doesn't remember anything about him or how he got his super powers. Here are his powers: he can make a weapon out of all the goo on his hands, he can kill one of the mutants that are invading the city and then take his powers, providing if you did that enough you'd have like 6 boss parts by the final part (just my guess) and he has a whole bunch of other crazy things he can do. Look it up and Gamestop.

Anyway does this game sound like GOW2 quality or Star Wars The Force Unleashed hype?

It has the potential to be a great game, but so do many others until the programmers decide to throw shit all over the design...

I'm also really looking forward to it, and I don't think it's going to disappoint. It'll become a cult title at worst.

Having seen the footage so far I am yet to find anything that wows me; essentially they started with "the Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction", and have gradually been replacing the textures and gameplay with their own.

Prototype strikes me as a game that is trying to pick and choose elements from already successful games: the free-running of Assassins Creed, the destruction of the aforementioned Hulk, the scope of GTA and combat that resembles God of War. Unfortunately the destruction still looks ridiculous, the design looks no better than any other GTA clone on the market and the designers themselves seem uncertain whether you have the strength of a god or have to run for your lives at the sight of enemies.

I just don't see what is meant to interest me in yet another free-roaming game in which the main character, who is morally ambiguous, seeks some indistinct revenge while trying to find out what he actually wants revenge on.

I hope its better and way bigger than GoW2 (weird comparism between a Shooter and a sandbox game?)

My opinion on the subject is obviously for the game, so I'll just say I'm looking forward to it, And I hope they don't screw it up, since I can't play inFamous since it is a PS3 exclusive, and this is the only overpowered sandbox game available to me.

'Nuff said.

But I feel the people behind this game are putting too much work in the hype machine and I tend to think games that do that won't be good. Of course, the people who man the hype machine are marketers and public relations, who never see a line of programming, so maybe it will. Meh.

I don't consider Gears of War to possess any measurement of quality whatsoever.

Anyway.

I heard about Protoype a while back, someone tricked me into thinking it was the new Assassin's Creed.

But now I realise what it is, and I have to say, it looks good. I do hope it's coming to PC.

It really looks like they're just trying to cram too much stuff into one game. The hype machine is working overtime.

Ehh.

Between this and inFamous (for some reason people compare the two), inFamous has got me more intrested. While I'm worried about the morality choices in inFamous, it seems to me like it has more sustenance like different abilities and such. With Prototype, I don't see anything evolving, I just see the same thing over and over again without much variety.

It has potential to be good, but right now I'm not that interested.

"All hype?" Doesn't a game actually have to have hype to be "over hyped?" Prototype is a lesser known game with very little in terms of hype, really. At least, I haven't seen too much hype surrounding it.

I personally think it looks potentially solid though, but that's just me.
