Puns are quite a common form of making a joke, and some puns are so awful that you just want to jump off the nearest bridge. Some are good, although the most common form of pun are plays on words. Although I feel that the best type of pun are by saying the name of an artist and then quoting their work.
For example:
Someone told me that I looked like Micheal Jackson, well that was Bad. We are here To Change the World. If you want to be starting something then send me a message. If you don't like this thread then you can beat it. Some say that the original creator of Levi's was called Billie. It doesn't matter if the result from this pole is going to be either Black or White, but it doesn't matter. I think that I have been a bit of a smooth criminal by putting these awful puns in this thread. Anyway, if you have read up till now, then well done, you have managed to fall for my entirely ridiculous trap using Micheal Jackson puns.

Poll made me laugh, I find them funny when they are blatantly used because they give that cheesy feel to whatever you're talking about.

No, I'm serious. I'm actually getting depressed from reading some of the puns. The only reason why I'm replying is because I think I'm having a serious nervous break down that may be from the effects of so much puns filling and hurting my head.

I think much of IRC will agree that I love puns. I'm not quite as rooted [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/The_root_of_all_evil] in them as some, and there are certain punishers of whom I would consider myself a huge [urlhttp://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Fanboy]fanboy[/url]. I would attempt to unseat them from their throne but I fear they would not stand for it.

I would like to point out to people that pun rhyming with things does not mean that substituting it as the first syllable is a pun. To say something like "punny" in place of "funny" is not a pun. Puns are great because they can be a subtle form of humor. I frequently irc people on #escapist by throwing puns out there that they don't notice and then pointing them out hoping for a few groans.

Anyway this is getting a bit wordy so I'll just leave it at that.

OT: I have a love/hate relationship with puns.
Sometimes I think thay are absolutely great for their cheesiness, and other times I think they're just idiotic.
Right now I'm in the love cycle, and I may become lactose intolerant as a result of this thred and its cheesiness.
