*THIS ENTIRE THREAD WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS*

Sorry to start a topic that will die off very quickly, but i want to know. If you haven't watched the entire film, this is a waste of time for you.

I tried to give the film an watch yesterday, and also tried to ignore all bad-preconceptions i had about the film. Sadly, i found all the preconceptions to be right and hated it, stopping around the time they were continuously beating the shit out of him for seemingly no reason. Anyway, along with much other praise i heard for this film, was a good plot twist and so i was wondering what that was?

Also, i'm interested to know whether the escapist likes it or not compared with it's popularity elsewhere, so i'll add a poll.

the plot twist is
The gunman who kills his father is his real father. he kills his real father, then everyone else dies.

Thanks, that was what i guessed (Not the final bit of what you said, but the first 2)

Also, 3 votes for hate- this is why i love the escapist ;)

I liked it. It was visually stunning and featured some good acting in places, bad in others. I think it suffered bad writing though.

I don't think it deserves all the hate it gets. It practically screams "don't take me seriously", you could do far worse than watch it to the end.

I seriously liked that movie. Nothing to tell your grandchildren about, but a cool action movie to kill some time it is.

i liked the movie but i looked at the book and comic as two different things and that's the best way to do it.

the comic is freaking awesome

I love the comics, it's great, but the movie is horrible. And the biggest problem is that
you never find out the darn origin of that something-or-other-of-fate thing, so you don't know if you're supposed to cheer for it or not.
And while the comic is about the loser Wesley becoming Badassness incarnate, the film is about Wesley the loser staying a loser (although he is good with a gun, admittedly). And Rictus, my favourite character from the comic, gets one mention in the movie.
