Press x to not die. Yahtzee does a great job ridiculing this when over used in video games. I like an occasional qte when used to hike the suspense- usually to finish off a boss that immediately results in a cutscene, but otherwise they are useless and tedious. Thoughts?

Four words.

Rock Band. Guitar Hero.

Yeah, they're so tedious that no-one buys them...

I hate them -.-. It's silly. I don't want to order my hero to perform a neat-o stunt, I want to fucking do it myself <.<.

Voted c. 'I never liked em to begin with'.

I voted impartial.

Like Yahtzee said they are a problem when you don't see them coming.

It mostly the ones that are just the same buttons over and over again I don't like.

If used properly I don't mind them, and by "properly" I mean having them be a regular part of the game so you can be ready for them and that missing it doesn't mean instant death.

Edit: Incidently, I hate the QTE in Sonic Chronicles, because they use the touch screen and the damn thing is very fussy on whether or not it wants count it as me hitting the right spot or not.

I like quick time parry attacks. Like in Wind waker, but the ones during a godamn cutscene.... NO!

Also your poll is kinda biased, one love it option and 3 dislikes/indifferent.

I dont like them at all, they seem to break my immersion into the game. Oh and I also own the "press X to not die T-shirt" :p

I'm impartial. They can be done right, like in God Of War or Resident Evil 4. But I hate when they get thrown into games randomly. I also dislike when people take yahtzee's every word as a word from god.

Quick time events when they are used properly, like God Of War, are good and a great way to kill an enemy when hitting X until they die is not enough
They're only bad when they just pop up randomly in games

Depends how they're done - if they're instant death then I really hate those but if it just damages you a bit then they can add to the game. Even better are ones that reward you for succeeding somehow. One of my favourite turn based battle systems is in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga where for any attack or defence there is essentially a quick time event that causes you to deal more damage or take less damage (or even counter-attack), with very little punishment for failure.

some of them suck... I like the qte system in prince of persia the two thrones but that was because of the whole rewind time thing which made it much better so if you missed it it wasn't necessarily instadeath wheras god of war is full of instadeath qte's. Some partial qte stuff is acceptable like lara almost slipping from a ledge in the new tomb raider games, but shit like instadeath grenades in COD are just a big load of gay though I'm not sure if they're really classified as a qte.

The QTE in condemned 2 to beat the shit out of someone was so good, it really felt like his skull was caving in under the force of your fists, but then again QTE's can be really annoying if they just pop out of nowhere, so yeh i'm impartial.

They're okay when put in appropriate. There are some game that did this well. Kingdom Hearts and God of War come to mind.

If used corectly. Like in indigo profecey. In diolauge, you could do a quick time event to here another persons thoughts so you can change the conversation or give them what they want to here.

Prettey much any time they show up regularly in the game and not one time things like in jericho.
