The R4 is a device that allows you to download nintendo ds games to a card and play them on the ds for free. If allot of people were find out about this (I am contributing to that) then nobody would want to buy the actual games anymore.

So write your thoughts or any questions you have.

Well seeing as this kinda thing has been around since the GBA and it's been available on the DS for years and for most people its just to much trouble, i really doubt it.
You know torrent sites exist and have done for years and they havent ruined Sony, Xbox and Nintendo yet and their usage is miles more prevalent.

I have a friend who owns one. when he mentioned it to me it was the first time I'd ever heard of it. I doubt enough people have any idea what the thing is for it to really have any impact on Nintendo's sales.

It's been out for years. There are hundreds of DS cards that have been available for years now.

To play games, you need to Download the game with a torrent, then you need to fiddle with the cartridges. The gameboy had the same thing, and it takes about 20 minutes to flash the PSP. It takes 30 minutes to flash a 360, and 15 minutes to swap out a wii drive.

It barely penetrates into the open market. It is no threat to anything.

No, even if DS sales take a hit, nintendo have this thing called the wii (you may have heard of it) that's selling rather well.... and all their first party stuff

Eh... you do realize that there are entire websites dedicated to downloading games of dubious legality for free? By your theory, gaming would be dead because no one would buy any games, instead they'd download something through BitTorrent.

Nintendo won't take a large enough hit from this to go under.

Every games console has piracy issues, but the sheer ease of pirating DS games would have made this a threat, if it weren't for Nintendo acknowledging the threat and handing out lawsuits recently.

Soon R4's will be much harder to find, and life will carry on as normal for the Nintendo crew. Now the PSP on the other hand...

It'll have the same effect that DVD burners had on PC games and modchips had on consoles. ie, they still exist.

No, because most people don't know about it and most people are casual/normal gamers. They don't want to invest time into figuring out how to work something that has the possibility of being difficult.

No I've never heard of this, and neither has the majority of the population, so I think Nintendo is safe.
Everyone I know with a DS has one.
Except me, because I don't have $200.

While I currently hate Nintendo more than... well... anything I can think of at the moment, I fail to see why somebody would want the company to be "destroyed". They still provide decent entertainment whenever the planets are aligned, and competition between major game makers is usually good for us.
