There is no spoon... shit:
--------------------------
Sometimes when I play on live I hear two different stories. Firstly, there's the this game is not realistic . Secondly, there's the realism takes away the fun and makes it frustrating. Personaly, I like games to be alitte more realistic. Then again, it can also be overdone and make it too complicated.

I would like there to be a game that allows you to customize the reality. For example; I am play a sniper in an FPS, I want to add wind, breathing, distance, Travel Time, or even the effect of the Earth moving. I could make it harder to show I have skill or change to make it the level I consider challenging YET still fun. If you could change little things in games to make it a fun unique gaming experinece for you.

But since we have yet to make any games involving such technology we are stuck with both extremes. Real or Fantasy. Which do you prefer?

I like the Realism, and the challenges that come with it.

The world is full of reality, so I'd rather have convent, fun, and balanced as opposed to realism for the sake of realism.

I like realism in my games, it makes the game seem as though this situation could happen, on the other hand a good dose of fantasy can just be fun with utterly unrealistic situations and challenges making you think outside the box rather than thinking well this is how it's done in the real world so that's how I'll do it in the game.

I'm all for a little bit of realism in a game, but not if it sacrifices game play. Being realistic just for the sake of being realistic is never a good idea. I'd rather have a game be full of outlandish imposable bullcrap if the end result is that the game is fun.

To quote Yahtzee: "Leaping eight times your own height, swinging swords the size of small cars around and deflecting bullets with other bullets are all fine with me as long as it's entertaining".

The graphics have to suit the game. Disgaea needs it's style of graphics. Okami needs its as well. However, games also need to be based in some sort of reality and if it strays beyond what it establishes for itself, it looks wrong. Case in point playing Soul Calibur IV and fighting against Vader just feels wrong. Whereas Mortal Kombat vs. DC does not.

I share this sentiment.

Magic > Guns. Also, it's prettier.

Magic, advanced technology, technological magic, magical technology, can make a game WAY more fun if implemented properly, but fuck it up if it's overly complicated.

Good question.

It depends what kind of mood im in. Sometimes I want a gritty realistic shooter with like.. One shot kills and stuff other times I wanna be able to take on 100 grunts with a masterwork spoon.

What you really want is a good combination of both. All reality wouldn't be fun, if you ask me, so you need a little but of fantasy thrown into the mix.

It depends. Total realism in games makes them boring for me but in the same way, too much fantasy can make it boring.

A game where you kill only one person, you only have 1 health Bar, and the Police are waiting for you outside.

I like a little of both. Like Vanguard1219 said; realism should not sacrifice gameplay. If the game is no longer fun, what is the point of playing it?

Imagine the ultimate FPS - you receive a lethal injection from your mouse/controller when your character dies in the game! What fun!

Or how about this: You die in the game, the screen fades to black, the game uinstalls from your HD, the disc self destructs, and you never find out how the game ends...

Fantasy is where you have your dreams.
Reality is where you enact them.
This pretty much sums it up.

And what's this crap about there being no spoon? I resent that. D:<
