Poll: Recommend me a console!

Fellow Escapists,

I'm thinking about purchasing a gaming console and I'm torn between the PS 3 and XBOX 360.
I want YOU guys to recommend me which console I should get, and 5 games for the console of your choice!

If you have a decent pc then get a PS3 as pretty much all the best games for the xbox are available on the pc at a cheaper price.

PS3 all the way, free online play and id, huge hard drive, MGS, and also MAG!!! buy the slim one, it's such a space-saver

The Sony Playstation 3, it only does everything! Except for play PS2 games, or PC games.

Get both. And Steam.

Or if you really must decide then look at the games on each console. A console should be about the GAMES. And in regards to games it an only be your choice. Whatever console has the more preferable games, then get that console.

Here's my collection (not including cross-platform games, unless there is significant reason to take one over the other), maybe you can make a judgement from it.

Personally, I prefer my PS3. Xbox 360 runs some earlier cross-platform games better though. But more recently there's no difference.

Haha JOKES. I'm not gonna list all 200+ Steam games here... But I don't even have that great a computer and it still runs stuff fine. And it's a laptop. It's a 512Mb 8600GS M with a 2.0Ghz dual core and I was playing the MOH beta so whatever tickles your pickle really.

A year ago I'd say Xbox, but now... god knows. For me, Xbox still has all the games I wanna play. And all my mates have one so it makes sense for me to get one as well. But PS3 has some epic games out for it now. And will only get stronger over the coming year(s).

Erm... Xbox 360! You have A LOT of games to play. Buy a PS3 next Xmas! Like most people will.

I'd recommend a 360, for it's massive library. And if you ever get RROD'd (within 4 years I think) the warranty will cover you...

I have a very good PC, on which I already have Steam with both the games you mentioned + a few more.

Basically, I'm interested in Halo: Reach a LOT. Also the God of War series, Gran Turismo series and some CoD titles.

Both are much of a muchness to be honest.

The Xbox has more of a game library and it's more likely that you know more people who own one, there can be technical issues but the extent and frustration of these is hugely overdramatised (it's not that bad, quit being drama queens).

The PS3 does have fewer notable games but the visual and audio quality is amazing (I played GoW3 and MGS4 yesterday and I loved them), however, they're more expensive on average (games included) and sometimes the controls in-game seemed a bit rigid and the installation process did get on my nerves a bit.

The PS3 can go online for free but I understand that the Xbox has a more intuitive and user friendly system for online play (you have to pay for the Xbox but you get what you pay for and I would say it's money well spent).
