Hey guys... as a new person to escapist I felt like submitting my review on Huxley (Korean Beta) which is using the unreal 3 engine and coming out for 360 and PC

[http://imageshack.us] Oh the beautiful direct x10-... wait thats directX 9.... on a MMO... damn is direct x10 going to kill gaming computers... >.>

Here is my review on the wonderful game of huxley. We might as well called it though world of unreal tournament... as most experience is gained through quest (har har har a WoW joke). I am not kidding you when im sayying having a fps like this is quite fun... and very different is actually a MMOFPS and not being a pretender like Tabula Rasa completely crushing my dreams and expectations of that game. This game is the only game i've hyped for and well surprisingly liked even though i dont understand 1/4 the game due to language barrier (so i probally flipped off a few npc's without knowing so)

Gameplay

HUD and game style
Alright straight to the game play. If you played any First person shooter you should notice a very similar interface... hp, and armor aimer, ect. though to your right is 5 skill slots (skill per armor slot) and energy dictated by your armor and a map (though useless other then finding out where to go since radar cant pick up a damn alien walking infront of you. This game is unreal tournmant style kinda of fighting mostly all gun fights that are... quick... fast.... tactics... and brain power.

PVP
PVP in the begining in virtual arenas are exactly like Unreal tournament the original... small little arenas for you and your buddies to fight in (or as soon as the majority of x-box live comes in trash talking 9 years who know more swear words and sexual terms before we do), once level 21 you get to do the faction pvp and the great fun of large battle field with vehicles come and play effect).

PVE
Where as PVE is all about quests, monster killing, and awesomely epic and huge boss fights!. The AI i found is great each kind of monster has its own kind of style of fighting such as the zergling like creatures will rush and flank you. Bosses each have their own AI... and you have to find out its tactics quickly or redo the level ;D. I like how quests arnt just retrieve item or kill monster, or kill boss monster with group. It can go from vehicle training, run away from set monsters without dieing to colosium matches against the aliens for training.

Graphics

Now to talk about what matters to most console people... Graphics... i am not kidding you max graphics on DirectX 9 was beautiful... in town ... or shoothing things up and blowing up their little giblits and then.... okay sorry about that but the graphics are wonderful, heres an example ever heard of the mmo syndrome im balancing my whole body on one toe and the rest of my feet are standing straight in mid air... well their is none of that... lets say their was a step or park bench and you only have one foot on it... the other foot will be on the ground making you look like your leaning onto the bench. Also your gun will shine in light so the more you are in the shade the darker it starts getting which is a nice graphic feature. Though monsters models get reused alot... boss models are absolutely breath taking that it kills you will true beauty making you ragdolize far away by its perfectly modeled punch/ kick/ whatever.

Sound

Sound can only be explained by this one experience... your walking down in a sewer shaft water at your feet so you hear the splashing, and you hear a low barely hearable growl then gets slightly louder. Each step is a splash and then as you turn around looking behind for a growl you step backwards a ventalation shaft breaking one infront and two behind you.... and the mutated alien creatures pop out of no where growling at you obviously your going to be their big mac for today (exception that i have a shot gun and their for level 6-9 and i was 11....) this game sets the setting with its music if your in a jungle, or in some old building.
This game uses Stereo settings up to Dolby sound surround 7.1.

Squad System

Though not knowing the exact name of what it is called you can form guilds obviously gaming the benefits of fame and quicker battle squards for fighting, and team work is the only purpose i can see of huxley guilds though for parties this game if he puts his points into squad base licenses to give bonuses like more people in squards... more damage when in formation, summon everyone to you, revive everyone to your position, instant refill with a three min cool down. This is what all squad leaders can give to their team members increasing the use of being a commander or playing with your buddies

Grasp of the Story

Now the whole reason of huxley i believe the war was caused by us humans (saps) using the other kinds of humanoids we've made as our own slaves and lessers (alts) so the alternatives plan a uprising which they do suceed and manage to escape causing war with the sapiens... the aliens i could guess come from the shattered moon...

Classes

Now to talk about huxley 3 main classes the Enforcer, the Avenger, the Phantom. They all have rolls in PVE and PVP which I find are equally balanced for their rolls. (their are no medic classes but medic kits can be bought to heal others though extra clips tends to be better if your on the front line)

Enforcer
Alright the Enforcer is the rule maker in up close combat, its his game and going to stay that way with his shot gun, flinger, machine gun, and discharger. All four guns are very good at up close... but the machine gun is the long range gun for the Enforcer as most his weapons arnt good if the enemy is past the close-medium range in combat. This class even though having the most amount of armor is one of the hardest for it's purpose, as you want to be close up the other two classes can take advantage of your lack of weapons with range and stay out of range if smart. But you are also the hardest to kill because head shot protection saves you from one shot snipers to the head and regulators. In PvE boss fights since you will be the one taunting the monster everything will be going after you, giving you almost no time to regenerate armor unless using the skill that heals armor. This is for the class that likes to stay up close and personal with everyone else

(~= stat that changes on better skills)
Skill set
Charge: Increases your run speed by almost double for two seconds~
Tackle: Does a quick charge for a meter dealing lots of damage~ to anyone if hit by it, Damage is controlled by skill level and armor
Armor Regeneration: You start using your energy bar to heal~ your armor points while in a fight
No Damage: For a couple of seconds~ you become invunerable but after you have 0 armor points
Head Shot Blocking(PvP): You take decreased damage~ from a head shot (You still take alot damage..
Taunt(PvE): Every monster in 10 meters~ of you will attack you

Avengers
Now the Avengers are famously known as the jack of all trades... they are not Great at Long range or Close up but good.I personally find them the easiest class to play for how easily they can dodge attacks, and redirect missles right back at enemies. If you liked the rocket launcher in halo/ut/doom/quake this guy is your man with his rocket launcher, machine gun, optical rifle, regulator and flinger. Only having one gun that isnt multi purpose is the flinger. they have an equal skill set of deffensive and offensive skills to make them an even more balanced class. They lack the armor that the Enforcer has, and lack the speed the Phantom have, so if you are new to shooters or huxley game style i would say that this has the easiest guns to start off with and end but you lack in the fire power.

Skill Set
Double Jump: This makes you so you can pull off another jump in mid air (~ height of this jump increases)
Entrice Rocket: you direct rockets to certain area (very good against other avengers who have their rocket out) (~ pulls more rockets to that area)
Increased Precision: All your guns for a short time~ have increased accuracy
Infared Vision: You will now see heat signals, and now able to spot off cloakers on the field for decrease in sight
Matched HP: You will match the HP of someone up close (personally it isnt very useful because if hp goes down quite quickly, armor is what keeps you alive
Teleport forward: You will teleport a certain distance~

Phantom
Last but not least the long range class... the Phantom he sides as a Assassin and a Sniper. This class has high powered single shot weapons able to destroy almost anything with it's Machine Gun, Sniper, Regulator, and Inquistor. Everything but the machine gun is meant to be fire a few shots then run to another sniper position. Because they leave a pretty noticable line through the air giving off your position. Now the inquistor is what makes them fun.... a remote controlled rocket that does x4 the damage to vehicles.... you pratically even have a vehicle sniper... though this is a fire and forget kind of gun... as in Fire and forget what else you where doing and run like hell because if one vehicle sees that, your going to get some rocket and huge tank shells in your body. Their skills are meant for assault and tricking the enemy players with a very crafty hologram dummy you can place to fool enemy snipers/ players. These are personally the best class for cloaking around and being the sniper. As this class all you need to do is stay far far away from the fight and let your 40x zoom sniper do the rest of the work. Just a note sniper and regulator scope doesnt bobble or go anywhere else then perfectly straight.

Skill Set
AutoShield: When attacked you will automatically pull a shield that lasts for a few seconds~
Cloak: When used you will become almost invisible, for a set period of time~
Hologram: You set up a exact replica of yourself that stays in one area and doesnt shoot back for set time~
Powerful Regulator/Sniper Shot: Increases your damage with set weapon for a period of time
Rear Alarm: at a certain range~ if someone pops up from behind you will get a notice
Speed Increase: Your overall speed~ increases with this skill

Weapons

Exact weapons cant be given because certain machine guns come with scopes and more like rifles, others like light machine guns being powerful, or fire and forget rocket launchers with 2 clip but a large beautiful explosion, or a anti air homing missle.

Machine Gun- This is a pretty decent gun in game for about anything, great for up close if you dont have the heavy Enforcer specific weapons, and great for enforcers to deal damage to far away enemies (Alt=one click zoom, decreasing the cone)

Flinger- This is a gernade launcher, if offers more damage then the rocket but barely any air time due to its short fuse on the gernade (Watch out for splash) (No Alt)

Regulator- This is a sniper that is more rapid then the "Sniper" and carries abit more bullet with a trade off with lower damage and low max zoom ( Leaves a trail and perfectly straight)(Alt Is Click and hold Zoom, this means the longer you hold the alt button the better magnification you get, then you let go to stay at that zoom) This gun can also work well up close due to it being more rapid and medium ammo count for the phantom.

Shot gun (Enforcer)- The shot gun is the gun of up close killing most aliens at one shot if they're close enough and damages monsters from medium distance, though recomended use is only when close up because you dont carry alot of shells (Alt is a zoom that decreases the cone)

Discharger (Enforcer)- This is the reason why no one wants to stay close to you... its your own personal BBQer, its a very useful gun burning things which after deals damage over time to the enemy this will tend to scare anyone who is too close for comfort or cloaking

Rocket Launcher (Avenger)- Though not as powerful as the gernade launcher this is a better gun because their is no fuse time and no curve this gun goes perfectly straight (Alt is a Zoom i think)

Optical Rifle (Avenger)- Even though it's called a rifle its more of a mini-gun it has high ammo count, and high powered, the bad thing is it is heavy taking up alot of space in your max space your character can hold

Sniper (Phantom)- This is like the regulator accept this sacrafices max ammo and rapidly firing for high damage and higher magnification. This is better for far away kills because of it's low ammo count. You want to also aim for the head more with this gun

Inquistor (Phantom)- This is pratically the vehicle sniper, it fires powerful rockets that do x4 damage against any vehicle and are remote controlled. It is recomended that you stay far far away from the battle while using this weapon since your left vunerable for a free headshot from a high powered gun (sniper, shotgun, rocket, regulator, ect ,ect)

Squad Leader Skills are Ammo Refill,Summon everyone to your position, Everyone Revives at your position, Everyone around you gets a damage boost (aura kinda thing they call formation)

I liked it, gave us alot of insight on the game. Surprisingly, it actually made me feel very different about the game, sounds really cool now. At first I thought it was gonna be half-assed but from the looks of it, its turning out to be awesome. =D

what really surprised me is the wonderful DirectX9 graphics in a beta... heck i thought it was DX10, untill someone told me it was DX 9 I also got min system specs

Window's XP
2.4Ghz Processing
Nividia 6600
1 GB of ram (2 GB if vista then what game isnt for vista)

I tried playying the game on low for screen shots but it looks kinda garbagy in town (but towns are miles and miles which you need to take trams and vehicles like a card or hover bike) though in the game as FPS the shooters it's okay... kinda like CSS low graphics...

Pvp i got to experience it when i was in japan was fun, Snipers dont camp (smart ones), close range guns arnt strong up close and vice versa (well snipers are still strong up close and get a aimer though someone jumping around like he had coco puffs in the begining of the day is kinda harder to shoot at then with a shot gun) Enforcers tend to get the highest score in virtual arena but thats because these are small to medium rooms and thats their specialty

M.A.G is bigger.

Your spelling/grammar could use work, but other than that good review I'll have to check it out. Even if it is an MMO.

Yeah just wondering, was their "alot" of errors... cause i did this without looking back. It generally doesnt feel like a MMO, Virtual arena are held in room based games, all the PVE maps... are instances... to sum it up the guild wars of FPS. (though hearing some halo3/CoD4 players on Xbox Live i hope theirs a freakin mute button)
