Now, i do not wish To encourage that you just go "Fuck it, Im 18" whilst being 10, But...

I have a freind that for several years now have played second life, witch he always took seriously and never complained like a child to it. (He is only 18 now... )
I live in a country where we use the "Bonus pater Familia" system, so we take responsibility for these actions.

And i know my mate does not want to Step on the people in Second life by breaking their rules. And he knows his place in this.

So the Question is.

"Is it Ok to Cheat your way through Age Restrictions like that, if you look upon the situation with adult eyes?"

Ill also Confess that i cheated the Age restriction... I added myself to second life here a month ago, and my 18th birthday is here in September... So theoreticly i have broken the rules as well...

Now I want to hear the Voice of The Escapist.
Let it begin :)

I'd like to think that if I were underage and wanting to cheat an age restriction, I'd do it for something of higher quality than Second Life. Just saying.

I think age restrictions are arbitrary and imperfect a lot of the time. I know some people who are mentally very mature and quite young, and should be allowed to (or already have) experience/experienced many "adult" things from quite a young age. Other people I know are over 50 years old and should be forced to remain virgins, not drink alcohol and not watch explicit movies. Age maturity.

Age restriction should be changed. You'd need to give your real age at registration and then, when you're underage, you need a second box popping up asking if you have your parents permission. Equally as ineffective, but ultimately makes a lot more sense. Unless they need to give a parent's e-mail address or something. Which would be a ***** to verify ... I dunno.

...why not? Who gives a shit really, unless all the bitchy 10 year olds are being, well, bitchy, and ruining the place. But who cares? I certainly don't

There needs to be greater respect for peoples decisions, and people shouldn't really have their decisions made for them by the law. Age restrictions do just that. So I agree with you

Prior to my eighteenth birthday, I was largely as intelligent and able to make decisions as I am now. I see no reason I should have been prevented from enjoying some games just because I happened to be beneath an arbitrary age limit.
