for some reason I'm somwhat facinated by the whole sexism thing

I mean generally I dont often see sexism on eather side of the spectrum in real life (then again I dont have much world experience)

and one thing that annoyes me when it comes to gender is it often turns into stupid arguments (as Ive said before)

"oh women have to deal with this!" "yeah but men have to deal with THIS!"

honestly I cant think of anything more pointless

another thing that annoys me is generalisations that people use as an argument "women are just manipulative, and want to controll men! by ether marrying them or gettign pregnant" the list goes on and on, this annoys me because although I am probably in the minority I am NOTHING LIKE THAT...I mean I dont like womens magazines or the whole women culture of eating yogurt and losing weight, and I think theres more to people than their gender

that said this happens to males as well Im sure

I'm slightly sexist, being a total manwhore, but not in an offensive way, more in a way that I'm attracted to women more than i probably should be.

I'm not gonna complain about women, though, because complaining should be a job left to the female audience here.

Whoops, I guess I bumped my scale up a bit XD

(FYI Obvious jooke was obvious, just in case)

I'm totally sexist/realist. Men and women aren't the same. They don't even have an awesome Y chromosome... poor things :(

I'd have to say one. I wouldn't mind one damn bit if women had the same jobs as men (if they could do them just as well or better) but there's a part of me that kinda yearns to have a housewife, you know?

Ultimately I can't objectively judge if I'm sexist or not, but besides the odd sexist joke now and again I don't think I do or think anything sexist.

Everyone's biased a little bit. A lot of times religion has to do with it, with the traditional views of how men and woman should act and such. In terms of how much shit each gender has to put up with, I'd say that we both have to put up with lots of shit. I'd imagine women have a bit more to deal with, but that's just me.

You mentioned manipulation in relationships. Both woman and men do it. People are biased about things and sometimes they get in silly arguments about it. That's about all there is to it.

Manipulative women are like abusive men, they exist, but are a minority. And it has nothing to do with the sex that they are, it's simply pieces of shit that use their natural advantages to control those around them. More on topic, I'd like to think that I'm a 0, however I'm sure a lot of people that you would consider sexist would consider themselves a 0 as well because they don't believe that there is anything wrong with the way they think, so may not be the most honest poll.

I very much oppose sexism and gender discrimination. Perhaps this comes from being raised in a very progressive feminist household with two politically left wing older sisters but whatever the case, I've always been political about these sort of things.

For instance, I strongly dislike it when people call women protesting about sexist imagery/advertisements in mainstream media 'feminazi's' because the Nazi's systematically killed 60 million people and all these women are doing is protesting and speaking out against sexist imagery in media. Ero, they are NOT the same.

I'm also quick to respond harshly to misogenystic remarks, and get into big debates with people that can go on for long periods of time over issues like objectification, civil rights and other such things. If nothing else I know that I am a man who is pro women's rights.

Which is something I want to point out, just because I'm pro female rights doesn't mean I'm a crazy misandronist. In fact, I can honestly say from all the feminist books, sites and women I meet in real life that very few of them even fit the stereotype people keep associating them with. And even then for every ONE psycho feminist blogger out there, there are at least FIVE blogs written by men about how women shouldn't be given the right to vote.
But for some reason, we never mention those sites do we?

I also do this in relation to games, I oppose the fact that we keep using women as sex appeal for games. I opposed Duke Nukem Forever's 'Capture the babe' mode and subsequently I was repulsed by that whole 'alien hive' section. I've argued long and hard about that issue and with quite a lot of passion in relation to it.
I've fought and argued long and hard to defend female rights on the web and sadly, that's often fruitless.

Am I perfect though? Well no, of course not. Some gender double standards in movies annoy me (like how often you see a cheating husband be unamiguously a jerk while a cheating wife is often portrayed as someone we are supposed to support) and I do happen to own a very raunchy statue of Catwoman which would make a young Catholic Boy run to the confessional after one glance. Not to mention a few old burlesque paintings from the 50's.

But overall, I like to think that I'm not sexist. I'm not perfect but I believe in giving women equal rights, I believe in bringing about some kind of end to the way women are expoitatively used as marketting material and I will argue frequently with angry internet misogynists.

If nothing else, I try my hardest to avoid having a bias against men or women. That said, I DO have a bias against humans in general but only because everyone knows that Sangheili are better.

Hahahaha, brilliant.

OT: Short of biological differences (like periods, or erections, or breasts) I don't treat men and women differently. I treat people differently depending on how they act, and it is an outside influence that men are more likely to exhibit certain traits than women, and women are more likey to exhibit other traits than men. So I treat people as people, and statistics creates what could be construed as sexism, even though it isn't.

People fear my feminist vagenda.

I'm a staunchly sex positive feminist though, so I'm on team Ke$ha.

I am with this guy. Men and Women are different. Mentally and Physically, but that is beside the point.
I only get annoyed at 'sexism', this goes for racism too, when people are using double standards, ie the extreme feminists.(Notice I used the word extreme).

I guess it's not really sexist, it's just established gender roles and biology that I think about.

But I wouldn't care at all if gender roles were equal. Not that that'll happen.

Why do we have to go out and say that the genders are equal? After all that doesn't make any sense. People vary from person to person, any generalization on a single gender, aside from things which are part of the definition of the gender, are complete rubbish.

I hear ya. I was GOING to post my views on the subject, but you covered the majority of them.

In short, society has a double standard. The only differences between the genders should litterally be the things we can't help. But yeah. In addition to the standard mistreatment of women that EVERYONE is aware of, there's also the un-equalities that women enjoy. Everything from the 'right' to wear dresses, skirts, and purses, to the 'Don't hit a girl' garbage that has remained. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to hit a girl for no good reason. But it won't matter WHAT their gender is if they give me a good reason to strike them. I also believe that holding the door open for someone is something both genders are capable of, but there are still those who find that offensive....
