Poll: Sexual Promiscuity- What's your take?

Before we start, let me just clarify that personal opinions are to be put in this thread. Your political opinions may contradict your personal opinions; you may hate promiscuity, but you wouldn't restrict the freedom of promiscuous individuals if you were President/Prime Minister/Chancellor/Chuck Norris.

I dislike Promiscuity, being the old-fashioned bastard I am. I don't see what there is to gain by having so many sexual partners. I'm bound by those timeless codes of conduct of honour, chivalry, and respect; usually things that run contrary to the idea of engaging in Casual Sex.

I'm looking to gauge the Escapist community on this, being the smart, intelligent and damn sexy people you are.

It's not my problem. If two adults consent to having sex with one another, then they can bloody well do so. And for me personally, I don't consider sex a sacred act or anything, but I don't think I'd get anything out of sleeping with a lot of people.

I'm not promiscuous, although part of the reason for that is because I'm in a reasonably stable relationship.

I do not judge people for sleeping around. To paraphrase/rape a famous quotation: 'Fucking, for lack of a better word, is good.'

If I were single, and able to pick up and bed many different lovely ladies, I'd do it. Friends who cheat on their girlfriends/boyfriends, too. I might go 'Meh. Wouldn't have done that myself', but I'm not going to sit on a ridiculous high horse and judge them lacking in the ethical department.

If anything, I'd say that people should fuck around more. It might release some frustration/tension with the world.

I would never do it myself. I see it as bad because they often hurt other people by being promiscuous. They may hurt themselves or people they don't even know by using somebody who is already in a relationship, as they tend not to care about other's relationships. It would be fine if the promiscuous people kept it between themselves, but it's not as they aren't particularly a community.

Promiscuous people are less likely to cheat later in life... when it actually matters. I also think that in the right context, sleeping with lots of people builds character. Heh, if you're not a creap about it and actually take a bit of time to learn about your short term fling, you get a pretty good sample size of the population.

After a couple hundred you have a very good understaning of what makes everyone tick. You know things.

Sex is like xp, so grind and level up while you're young I say.

I think a far worse travesty is all those people from my highschool days, people who could count their partners on their fingers, people who never got any of it out of their system, people who stayed in the same teenage relationship for years after hs because it was safe and familiar, people who may have had children with that someone- believing they had found their soul mate or whatever out of a small graduating class vs. The entire worlds.

People who are now divorced, alone, clueless and miserable.

Being out of hs ten years now, I've seen my share boys and girls.

I don't have any problems with sexual promiscuity. I do, however, have problems with the kind of person who tends to be sexually promiscuous, i.e. they tend to be douche bags.

Casual sex? Sure. Annoying people who look at sexual partners as trophies? No, thank you.

Until I moved to the city and went to college, one of my closest friends at college is definitely promiscuous and I think its kinda rubbed off on me. Its all good fun as long as you take care and being honest there are few things I find funnier than me this guy and a couple other male friends going out "on the hunt"

Then again we really don't take anything seriously for example on one really memorable occasion "wingmen" wearing imitation goggles flight suits and scarves.

On the one hand, I'm in a committed relationship, and I never want to stuff that up. I just don't want to hurt my lover.

On the other hand, I know I'm human. And if I'm in the right place, with the right person, at the right time, I may very well have sex with someone other than my boyfriend. I know I'm not infallible.

I suppose my response is to try not to get myself into any of those situations where I might sleep with someone else. And not to judge anyone else who sleeps around. Who am I to judge? If I know I might do it, why would someone else be able to resist?
