Y'know, I was thinking a couple days after Final Fantasy XIII's release day, that FF13 had a huge following from both platform sides, (I saw people buying copies for both) and that Square-enix made the right choice for sales and fans alike releasing for the Xbox 360. Now that XIII is with us, and XIII-2 possible in the works, (Check link - http://www.escapistmagazine.com/new...asy-XIII-Developers-Would-Like-to-Make-Sequel ) what will happen to Versus XIII, the next confirmed part of the XIII trilogy?

I know it's currently a PS3 exclusive, but once upon a time so was Final Fantasy XIII... Do you think it should be multiplatform, or not?

I'm guessing there is a high probability of them porting it over to the 360 after seeing it's popularity. Hey it's a plus if they do in my books since I only have a 360.

I think it is too late in development for multiplatform and besides wouldn't it have to go through compression as well (I heard that the cut scenes and gameplay are both going to be rendered at the same HD quality)

also there will be more than three so it is more than a trilogy only three have been revealed though

Meh. Versus XIII never looked interesting. It's Tetsuya Nomura's ode to bro-love and the colour blue.

So... what? Just crank down the graphics quality from 1080p or whatever to something the 360 can handle. No big deal. Compress it to more discs. Big deal. They did it with the actual game didn't they?

Well considering how XIII is lacking in quality because of it's multiplatform nature I would rather they made separate Final Fantasy games for each system and used them both to their utmost.

Yea because Final Fantasy should compromise their visuals just to be on more than one platform, even as people boo when they offer the clearly inferior version (graphically) as a prize at a Square event.

Not a spinoff. Takes place in the same 'universe' or realm or whatever they're called. It's like how last time there was FFX11, Revenant Wings, and Tactics A2 Grimoire all part of the Ivalice Alliance series. 13, versus and aigito are all part of the Fabula Nove Crystallis series. 13 may be its spotlight, but doesnt make it a spinoff.

Frankly I dont care what it comes out for as long as it doesnt ruin cost the experience. I superwhite and enjoy all the consoles so get to grab a bag of popcorn and watch people whine about exclusives. So I dont care what comes out on what for the most part. If developing for another platform makes it take excessivly longer to come out or something like that. But when a company tries to *gasp* make money, I dont get pissy.

Did you see the main problem? far too late in development, I think it would only cause MAJOR delays if it was changed to be multiplatform, remember how XIII was going to be multiplatform really early in development? well it still was released a month later than it had to be because of it, imagine doing that right now...

EDIT: what the hell it put my reply in your quote, must not have been paying attention

Judging from the success of XIII they probably will release it on the 360 as well. I think they should remake Final Fantasy, the original with all kinds of new updated gameplay and next gen graphics. The originals story was lackluster at best so there's tons of wiggle room to do whatever the hell they want. Would be a smart move and would be a phenomenal success. However Squenix is run by a bunch of tightwad dicks in suits so I doubt any remake of anything will ever happen.
So, you want them to remake the first one but change the graphics, gameplay and storyline? Wouldn't that just be an entirely different game?

I wouldn't care if it was delayed. I'm not gonna' buy it for the PS3 so it would be as if it isn't being released at all unless its ported to the 360. KHIII however. God my wallet. My poor, poor wallet. I hope it comes out on 360.

well its not out till next year, and porting it to the 360 will delay it longer, and if it is going to the 360 it will be 6 months to a year after the ps3 version. they wouldnt be showing it at e3 because they want to rework the world map.

no. It shouldnt. I hope it stays ps3 exclusive.
I agree. FF has been a PS exclusive for a long time, probably due to Sony being Japanese. I don't want to give Xbox 360 fans any more of my beloved FF games. Except 12, you can have that pile of rubbish.

Yes. Yes, it would.

I really don't see why not.

The problem most people seem to be seeing is that this would somehow compromise the PS3 version - why should it? Square could easily release the PS3 version and then the 360 version when it's ready. They planned to do the same thing (in reverse) with The Last Remnant but had difficulties with the Unreal Engine on the PS3.

Square-Enix have already published a game that has performed this feat - Star Ocean 4 : The Last Hope. I fail to see why they would not do the same here.

On a personal note I hope it does, although I'm not all that bothered - the Kingdom hearts games are terrible in my opinion (a child's Final Fantasy with what appears to be near identical sequels/spin-off's and poor combat) so I'm highly suspicious of anything the same team produces.

Honestly i don't care either way. I've already purchased XIII for my 360, but i'm getting a ps3 for god of war III, so if it does, which it probably will, seeing the success of 13 on the 360, it doesn't matter to me.
