I am a strict console gamer and have been very content with my 360 for many years, but now I'm considering buying a PS3 (mainly to interact with my Vita) Do you think I should wait until the next generation of Sony hardware or just purchase it now? Thanks :D

We still have minimal info about the PS4, which leads me to believe that it's still going to be a few years.

For me, the Blu-Ray ability alone makes the PS3 a worthy purchase. If you are just after games, there are plenty enough exclusives (Uncharted, Infamous, MLB The Show, Metal Gear 4, God of War, and soon-to-be-added The Last of Us) that make the PS3 worth it. I just got mine in December and I still prefer my 360 but it's certainly worth it.

If you can find a good deal then yes.

PS4 is still probably a long way off so it can't hurt and the PS3 has enough exclusives to keep you busy until it does come out.

On top of Blu-ray support and several quality exclusives, they surely can't be all that expensive by now either, can they? The next-gen systems might not even be backwards compatible and I'm willing to bet the current gen systems will still be supported for a couple of years into the next gen.

Is it worth the handful of exclusives? Most games are multiplat so you don't need both consoles. I would say wait if I knew the PS4 would have backwards compatibility but who knows. I am also extremely frugal though.

If you're set on getting a PS3, now would be a pretty good time to do so.

It's is quite late into the console's lifecycle, so there is a wide variety of exclusives available. Some of the best games on any system also tend to be released near the end, so there are still plenty of things to look forward to.

As tippy said, the PS4 will probably take a few years to come out. So until then, you should probably get the PS3.

Besides, there are tons of exclusives out for it now. Including Metal Gear Solid 4, Valkyria Chronicles, Journey, Ratchet and Clank Future series, a whole bunch of HD collections, and of course access to a bunch of PS1 games.

Exactly captcha, don't waste time waiting for the PS4, get the PS3!

I would say buy a computer, but if you really want a console then get a ps3.....THEN get a computer.

Don't wait for the ps4 or 720 because they'll be obsolete before they even come out. Computer technology is just too good for consoles these days.

I'd be considering the same thing lately myself. I say if you've got the money to spend, then by all means go buy one right now.

However, if you want the chance to potentially save some money and don't mind having some patience I would suggest waiting until after Gamescom sometime in August because there have been some rumors that Sony might reveal a new version of the PS3 there. If they were to do this, you could potentially buy a the newer version at the price of the current or buy the current version for a reduced price. Just thought I'd let you know about the rumor. :3
