TF2. Should I get the PC version of TF2? I have the PS3 version but I'm a little tired of playing Dustbowl for the 23456765456th time and I want to use some class updates etc. Thing is...my computer will barely run it. HL2 works at full settings and full res for my screen but TF2 will more than likely lag. Apart from that it's really nothing new. I've played all before after all.

So should I get it or not?

There are a lot of config. files which adjust TF2's graphical settings to well below minimum. We're talking about disabling physics, removing spent gunshells (a la Heavy), disabling facial animations, etc.

Go here:

Edit: also go here: http://more.pp.fi/tf2/configs/autoexec.cfg

I'll join you, I've been dying to get it on PC for a while, none of the stores nearby have it though! What specs does it need to run, anyway?

I say yes, But I actually prefer the Xbox due to the controls. Of course, I barely play it.

Well, personally I think steam is a pain... If you don't mind that though, then I think it's good value to buy it on steam.

Buy it off Steam, and if you're like me, buy several more games off steam.
Yeah, I've been thinking of steam, my usage for this month is capped, so I'll wait til next month.

These are my specs, would I be able to run it on full? Mind you, only reason I'm asking is I have bad luck with buying PC games that actually run.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66GHz
RAM 4.00 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Gaming graphics 1919 MB Total available graphics memory

1919MB?
Not sure if there's something I've not heard of, but I'm going to assume SLI?
In which case, snap, and the HL2 series and L4D run fine maxed out here. :]

www.canirunit.com

point that at TF2, it'll scan your hardware to see if you can run it. It redirects to a domain name something like systemreqs, but canirunit is easier to remember and spell.

Your pc seems to be just fine to run TF2, heck you can run Source games on a cardboard box. The Source engine is fantastic, great visuals with incredibly low specs. Get it for the pc if you can.

Check this site [http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest] and you'll get a rough picture. Don't 100% trust it though, I once didn't get Recommended just because I lacked Vista, that was for Far Cry 2. I could easily play it on max settings quite smoothly. But it gives you a proper enough picture of what you need.

As everyone has already said yes!

Kinda on topic - Is it worth getting L4D on the PC? mainly for mods and the PC clan.

Yes. I had it on the 360 first and while I tought it was good there, I decided to get it on Steam and loved it, the game is so much better on PC especaly with all the extra content that has been released.

Also Adrial, your PC should have no problem running it, I have been playing it on a laptop with
duel core 1.8 Ghz
2 gig ram
for over a year now, at a fairly high quility settings.

Your PC will absolutly be able to run TF2.
I can only just barely run it on my laptop(but run it all the same) with these specs:
CPU: single core 1.96GHz
RAM: 1 GB
Graphics: GForce 6800 GT

TF2 is not really a new game. You will be able to run it on max settings.

Strangely enough, the card is SLI compatable but, thats just what the computer reads it as.

Thanks for the help everyone!
