I have been thinking of joining WoW for quite some time now but can't make a dicision. The game looks really fun and I finally got a good enough cumputer to run the game (Only last week) but WoW is really pricey. I think that the game is probably worth it: In depth story, good graphics (for an MMO), cool invironments and overall good reveiws. But I want to know what other people think: Is it worth it, is it a good game and are the players (as a general rule) nice or complete D-bags. Please vote then leave individual information.

:) thanks!

If you have a couple friends joining with you, it would probably be a lot of fun, but if it's just you, probably not a good idea.

It depends what you plan to do with it (or in it, rather). If you want to go in heavily for end game content, be it raiding or PVP, then I hope you have a lot of time on your hands. I can't say about the PVP, but I know from experience you will have to devote a lot of time to the game if you want to be able to raid effectively.

As for the players, as it is with any online game/community there are nice people, and there are not so nice people. You just have to hope you encounter more of the former.

You're probably bound to find something to do in it that you will enjoy. Personally, I'd say just give it a try. It's been a while, but I believe the game comes with a months trial as standard (if the staffer I overheard in game is to be believed) so that should be sufficient time for you to try it out.

I can send you an invite if you want to try a 10-day free trial. There have been sporadic attempts to organize an Escapist guild, mostly by Ultrajoe.

He asked for an opinon of WoW not Eve online.

I would take the poster above me's offer. After all it should make it a little easier to decide.

If you have friends go for it. Get a free 10 day trial and see how you like the game first though. Even if you don't end up sticking around for that long most people will at least find leveling for the first time incredibly fun.

Wait till Cataclysm, you'll thank me.

It's a good game but its going to be REALLY good when the next expansion hits :p.

Likewise as for EvE, it's not a bad game but if you don't enjoy punching yourself in the taint you might want to not play it.

Considering the second you stop mining and try to explore anything in low sec you'll get killed by some 10 year old with a god complex. Who will then proceed to pod you. Course they say that's what getting a clone is for.

Play with friends. I enjoyed it but got bored, and I'll never go back. Try the trial, and then decide.

QFT. I mean, if you haven't played before you probably won't mind too much, but... after getting used to the quality of leveling in TBC and WotLK, old Classic WoW is painful, dood.

Yeah. I'm actually kind of upset that I have 10 alts already, I may delete one or pay for a racial change.

Overall though few game urls have made me as excited as: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/

Also +1 to your internet rep for reminding me of a prinny.

I played the 10 day free trail and it only lasted 2.

Probably the most boring game I ever played.

I was doing the same fetch quests over and over and over.

I played it for a while and i had a great time with it. It's the best mmo I've played. I would recommend it if you have the money.

EDIT:Cataclysm looks amazing. Damn i'm going to have to choose between Aion, Playing WoW again with the new expansions or Global Agenda... ah! So hard... to do! Well after playing the Aion and GA betas i'll have a better idea.

DO NOT TOUCH WORLD OF WARCRAFT IN IT'S CURRENT STATE! Wait until Cataclysm hits so when you level you're going to level in the new revamped Azeroth. At the moment leveling from 1 to 60 is a pain in the backside, and level from 60 to 80 is a bigger pain in the backside.

If you've a guild and small community of friends waiting for you, willing to grind up to level 60+ for the good content (about a week or 2 total game play minimum to get that far), can stand being laughed at by level 80(soon to be 85's) because you just started after them wasting X years of their life on it, and are willing to rent it for £10 a month, go for it.

WoW is one hell of a game with a LOT of good people to play along with. But it is an investment, mainly of time, so just make sure you have enough time to get what you desire out of the game or else you're just wasting time you could be spending elsewhere.

I still might one day get back into WoW, mainly due to my best friend (along with many others I know) still playing the game, but first I want to make sure I'm living life for my sons and I, not my toon.

Just like all FPS's are just the same kill quest over and over and over.

Just like all racing games are the same travel quest over and over and over.

Just like all sports games are the same point gain quest over and over and over.

It's almost like everything involves repetition.

Halfway there.

Leveling from 1 to 60 IS a pain, but 60-80 is about as streamlined as bottle nosed dolphins. I've never played an MMO where it was less aggravating to level up than 60-80 in WoW. Note: I've played lots of MMO's. Quite lots too.

Don't plan to play wow again till November (kudos to those who know why).
