I had always thought about getting into it but never really gotten around to it and since video games are sarting to bore me a lil bit(shock!, horror!) and i have a ridiculously overactive imagination.

i was just wondering what you peoples opinions were :p.

If you have a good group of friends who can play it with you on a regular basis and you are able to come up with fun and interesting dungeons then go for it. If not than don't, otherwise you end up spending loads on the rulebooks and never using them, like me.

It really all depends on how creative you can be and how you play it and with whom. I personally had great time the few times I dabbled but I'd attribute it to my companions being ridiculous as much as I would the game itself.

Go for it!

Its a fun good times with a group of friends. I quite like the character creation stage, rolling the dice, developing my stats and drawing my character out on my sheet. Plus if your a good DM or know one it can be a ton of fun.

I started playing it recently (I'm a Paladin) and I actually quite enjoyed it.

I am aware that it isn;t for everyone so I would say simply give it a try.

If you don't like it, fair enough, leave it alone and never speak of it again.

If you, like me, do enjoy it then by all means keep it up and may Kord smile on you...uh...I mean have fun (I swear I am normal and socially healthy).

EDIT: As others have said before me, it's best if played with friends who you get on with well, that way you can joke around and just have fun with it, which is the point of it in my opinion.

You will be sacrificed for such deceit, there will be no time for D&D.

Sure go for it, you either like it or you dont, just dont knock it till you try it

I feel your pain.

*glances balefully at his shelf full of core and supplemental rulebooks*

...sigh.

Kord? Bah! A cleric bearing the mighty sign of Pelor cannot be beaten!

I don't know, just putting my 2 cents in
Well if you're gonna shoot down the idea, you could at least provide some reasoning. Otherwise you may as just well flip a coin to decide all the responses in your posts.

Or are we just trying to get the post count up?

I've always wondered the same. Never played D&D but it sounds like fun. I'd need some friends to play it with though and not sure if I know anyone who'd be up for it.

If your worried about cost of entry you can always use one of the many sets of rules available online. http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm is the 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons rule set available under an open license from Wizards of the Coast. A few dollars of dice(you can always use a dice rolling program too), some paper, some pencils and a few friends is all you will need.

If it's your first time DMing, it might be worth it to shell out for a pre-fabricated mission/campaign just to cut your teeth on.

If he's DMing, don't forget the graph paper!

If you're anything like me, you'll need a shitload of graph paper...

You sound like an excellent D&D candidate! I wish I still had good people to play with, my D&D group really doesn't care anymore. >.<
