so far I've been behind on movies and have completely missed all the movies that will come together to make avengers.
I already have a loose understanding on the avengers universe thanks to moviebob but I would be lieing If I knew more then that
so I ask you
should I watch the previous movies BEFORE watching avengers
will I be missing out if I watch avengers without the complete backstory

I reckon The Avengers will be enjoyable if you don't know everything about it. However I like the 'stand-alone' movies so I can still recommend them.

The Avengers would be far more enjoyable and you would understand much, much more if you watched the Origin films. So yes, watch them. They're pretty good anyway.

Yes you should. Not necessarily because you need to know anything about them or that having seen the others makes this experience that much deeper (which it will, if Thor and Captain America are any indication), but because they're fkng awesome movies and stand perfectly well on their own.

Yes I would watch them. Aside from Iron Man 2 most of them are very well done. Just rewatched Thor and Captain America both great films on their own.

Can't think of any reason not to watch them, they're all good movies from what I've seen (I'm missing Incredible Hulk and Captain America myself)

If you have the time watch the movies. I'm sure the film will have some kind of flashback explaining everyone anyway.

Well, I watched Captain America before I watched Thor, and I was constantly like: ''Wait, they aren't gonna explain this?'' Then I watched Thor and was like ''Ah, now it all starts to make sense to me.''. Aside from this, these movies are pretty good, so there is no harm in watching them.

I will put yes in the poll because the movies are enjoyable to watch.
BUT I think the avengers will be made in such a away that you don't have to have seen the other movies to understand it.

I'd say yes.

There all pretty good Movies, and you've plenty of time before Avengers comes out.

Watch one a week at your liesure, you've plenty of time to get caught up with the goings ons.

I would. I hear Thors brother is the villain in The Avengers or something. Still haven't seen Thor but I plan on doing so before Avengers comes out. Don't forget about Captain America!

Yes. Watch Iron Man 1 at least, that one is my second favourite comic book film (first being Dark Knight)

I watched Captain America last night and it really helped me put pieces together from what I didn't know. So Yes definitely, they all amazing movies either way I liked all of them they're some of my favourite movies.
The avengers is going to be amazing don't ruin for yourself because you don't know the backstories of the characters. (unless you've read the comic books or something, I didn't but it still makes sense to me)

Yes, the wole point of this thing Marvel is doing is bringing comics continuity to the movie world, alot of the stuff that the Avengers movie is gonna revolve around stuff shown in the previous ones.

i.e. continuity.
