I was wondering that with the wii being laughed at by alot of people is this happening because mario is there mascot and he is a childish figure and if so do you think they should change there mascot to someone else such as samus or link?

No way. Mario is iconic. Everyone knows about him, even many people who don't have to do anything with gaming.

Maybe they could change all of their tired, old characters while they're at it.

But he's no more 'childish' then any of the others, if anything he's better as a mascot due to how neutral he is.

I didn't know he was the mascot. Then again I doubt changing it to zombie strippers will make it seem more "adult". Best keep things the way they are.

I agree. It doesn't matter that Mario is bit childish. He is a character that is recognized far and wide and is very nostalgic for many people. Plus the games are still pretty good.

A documentary i says mario is the mascot of Nintendo because he's a coronic best seller plus he's seen as a traditional mascot who can never be replaced!!!

Nintendo have mario. Kid friendly, wouldn't hurt anything that can't fit under his boot. What does the Xbox have? Some armoured dude who has no personality and a holographic best friend who is a nudist.

At least they have a mascot who has games that are udneniably fun to play. Master Chief's story is just mind-numbingly boring. The online on halo, however, is practically flawless.

Sackboy as ps3's mascot...i agree with that
if the xbox decides to have a pinata as the mascot i will go crazy. unfortunately i cannot think of someone as the xbox mascot who isnt a trigger happy, non personalitied twat

Besides if they ditch Mario, technically speaking they would go with Pikachu, seeing as Pokemon is the 2nd most successful gaming franchise.

For a while in the 90's I thought pokemon or just a random pokemon monster or charchter was going to replace mario, but I guess I was wrong.

The iconography and simplicity of Nintendo's current logos (Nintendo, Wii and DS) means that they don't need a mascot. This has been true since the N64 days with that awesome logo.

Q: How do you love a thirty something Italian plumber addicted to mushrooms?

A: At a distance.

It's not yet time to retire him as a mascot, but unless Nintendo does something revolutionary to revamp it won't be long before he becomes a stale staple of the company. Maybe sometime in the future when our generation is long gone, Mario might pick up his wrench Bioshock style.

I think Mario works fine.
I wouldn't mind Nintendo giving some of their other characters some mascot time, but I don't think that they will.
Too bad, I do kind of like Link better.
