Yes they should in the escapist forum, as that is the style of forum it is.

However if you say... go onto 4chan and criticise grammar. You are a moron.

It depends on the forum.

They should use an acceptable level of both of them, but it's not a necessity for every post to go through hours of editing, it's rude to try and force others match a rather over the top set of expectations, though again it's also disrespectful to show up with something best described as an alien language.

As long as they are trying, but the moment i see a 'u' or a 'ur' i fill with rage. Same for when people believe sentences don't require commas, those commas are useful!

I don't expect perfection but I would request at least an honest attempt at proper sentence construction. When someone mangles a post to the point that it's difficult to decipher, I assume the writer has some sort of "brain problem". When I see a few spelling errors and missed punctation marks I just think "they didn't feel the need to proof read and edit an internet post".

Generally I believe they should try and use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar, as it often helps to better convey the point they are trying to make in the post.

Having said that, there are still many occasions where despite poor grammar and such, its still perfectly clear what somebody is trying to say, which I'm fine with.

Besides, mentally correcting peoples posts (whilst overbearingly arrogant of me) helps keep me on my toes, grammar wise.

Should?

... hmmm. well. Proper grammar and spelling is usually a plus for me. I mean, at least try, you know? As long as they try i don't mind.

Words like Prolly, and dat, and tht.... am i the only one who hates when people say dat instead of that? I mean, that is a deliberate purposeful retarded decision of bad grammar.

Yes, at least on certain forums like The Escapist, but not to the point where there are Grammar Nazis scrutinizing every post and throwing out a valid argument because some punctuation is out of place or a word is misspelled.

When people start using leetspeak or other 'internet languages' it becomes a hassle to try and translate retard into English.

Yes, damn it.

Also, I find it funny you made a thread like this, but you yourself capitalized a word in the middle of a sentence.

I don't think it matters.
Clearly you don't either.

Your "because" and "it" shouldn't have capitals.
The sentence should read "I think so, it makes" or "I think so because it makes."
Your title should say "correct" in place of "proper" because proper implies appropriate not right or wrong.

If you're going to get on people's case about grammar, you will get ***** slapped every time.

Ow, my IQ.
And to answer your poll, yes.
The only way to judge a person through the internet at first glance is through their typing.
