There was a recent thread where some people mentioned this, so I want to flesh it out a bit.

I think yes, and I'd like to see why people think why and why not.
When I was 12, I would've liked nothing more than a VR game, where it was all 3D worlds, I could battle against more real people, and Pokémon were almost real - an MMO or an Online RPG would suit Pokémon perfectly - maybe just increase the level cap to 1000 or something, and the starter Pokémon might be a challenge if they include the entire series Pokédex. Then they could have expansions with 100-200 more Pokémon every year or so. But the one thing I would be against would be paying $20 odd each month, make it $100 bucks up front and maybe even $100 for expansions instead. But I'm straying a bit from the main point. Plus, the fans have already been trying to create their own web versions of something very similar for years, the market created its own venue to have MMOs, I think Nintendo is just utterly stupid for not saying 'gee, lets make an official version' and drag all the other people into their game.

I think it?s a good idea, what do you think?

I would love to play a Pokemon MMORPG! I've always wanted 3D Pokemon and maybe even the ability to actually control them whilst in battle.

11 yes, 2 no, with the majority believing it should be on PC, why not Wii or 3DS if they made it? I think PC would probably get the largest audience, because the people who have gone from owning a Nintendo console/handheld to something else, or just PCs might still like Pokemon.

I might actually get back into Pokemon if they made it into an MMORPG. Mostly because I don't really have any friends that play Pokemon, so I'd be fine with just being able to battle random people online.

Yes. I dont think they even have to try that hard to make a good one either. Hell, I could totally get behind a Pokemon MMO that overall plays just like say, Emerald. No need to change the turn based style. Just combine stadium with the regular games.

probably but how would you run it so that players dont have level 89 pokemon and just troll the lower level trainers? Or the gym battles, since potentially you could have someone take up all the time to battle a gym leader.

and the league itself would be a mess. Plus it would be so exclusive to the stronger trainers, and ones who want to play casual game play will be out of the league and habve not chance of getting in.

keep in mind that pokemon is turned bases and MMOs are realtime; being an MMO, it would have to have a longer grind than any of the single player games, and with the current turned-based gameplay that would get real old real fast. it would have a great potential for casual PVP, but beyond that i dont see it working; what would it do that the single player games dont already?

personally, i would really want to see another stadium game; like 1 and 2, that took the basic gameplay and made it 100x more visually pleasing, connected with the gameboy games so you could bring your own team into it, and had its own gym/elite four progression. im pretty sure im the only one though; so what if was basically the same game for the N64, i still loved it like any other pokemon game.

Are you thinking real-time battling (like War of the Monsters/God of War/Kingdom Hearts2/... some other real-time game)? Because if you are, OMFZGJCBBQWTFWOOOOT! I've wanted something like that for ages!

EDIT: Except give them talent trees instead of this 'I can only remember four things' crap. Just restrict the 'ability buttons' to four so that they have to choose which four of their abilities they'd like to use in battle, and they can only change when theya ren't fighting.

And if this game ever happened, I'd pick Arcanine, Umbreon or Scyther.

A Pokemon mmo that lets you play as the pokemon themselves, not the trainers. You start as a low level pokemon tyke and level yourself up in the wild in order to become the very best, like no one ever was. Trainers could be bosses, and if they catch you, game over, you lose that pokemon, gotta start over. Of course, you have the power to resist capture. You ain't about to let some ***** ass kid from Pallet Town come and force you into slavery. FOR FREEDOM!

I think that would work out fairly well, but I just wonder if there's a way to add in quest and the like for extra goodies like nuggets, moon stones (And the other ones), rare candies, oh, and the bike. I would fully support Nintendo in making something like this IF they can do it well...Too many MMORPGs are crap.

Instance the Gym leaders/significant battles. Have PvE range from hardcore to casual, PvP (like all games with PvP) will have some sort of a ranking system (further divided with level ranges), increase the number of team battle options as well as putting in the ability to decline PvP battles?

Play SMT: Imagine...sort of the same vibe.

That being said, I think a Pokemon MMORPG would be a good idea.

But I'd rather have a Pokemon game with a more dynamic, action based, game play.

I actually think this would be pretty fun. It's set up perfectly for it considering that Pokémon already is a grindfest. You could combine all the different regions and have gyms and wild Pokémon training areas, and then have a PvP element where you could just walk on up to people and challenge them to a battle.
