Should I get Skyrim on release day or keep my money and get it for Christmas?

Personally I'm trying to decide whether to get it on release day or wait till my birthday, which is 11 days later.

I don't think the price is going to drop by christmas.
At least where I live, they give a $15-20 discount during the first week after release, and then the price stays at the regular level for months. Years even, if it's a popular game.

I WAS going to abstain till Christmas but the waits going to be nigh impossible. I'm gonna fold day 1, gauruntee it.

I'd suggest wait, just to make it all the sweeter, but fair play if you can manage.

Pre-order it. Its price isn't going to get any lower by Christmas (as far as I know), so all that waiting would do is possibly make Skyrim less available. If you pre-order it, not only are you guarunteed to get it on day one, but you'll get a sweet map, too.

The wait until the 11th is killing me already, I can't imagine waiting any longer while knowing that the game is available for me to enjoy.

The reasonable, logical side of me is saying "Let your girlfriend buy it for you on Christmas." The gaming, highly excitable part of me is saying "And look at it forlornly on the shelf every time you go to Walmart for over a month?!"

I've been thinking the same, trying to mentally organize what games I should get now and what should wait till the holidays. I've come to the conclusion that Skyrim is going definitely going to be a day one. The great thing about Skryim is that there is going to be massive amounts of content to hold you over till Christmas so you you can put off getting some other titles for a bit.

If you have other games to occupy you, wait until Christams or even Black Friday. You might get lucky and find a good deal somewhere. Plus, there's the possibility the game might be buggy as hell come release day (considering this is Bethesda), so waiting until a patch fixes up things might not be a bad idea. If you don't or if you must absoultely play it as soon as possible, then get it day one.

Arkham City is the last game I'm getting on launch. I'm getting Skyrim for Xmas cos it's gonna be incredible and Xmas is incredible so the two together will be heaven! Do the same if you want...

Pre order it since you can get it for a fiver less if you preorder from steam. I bought it for my friend for christmas as a preorder because of that.

My vote goes to really saving your money and getting goty next year. Also by that time they will have hopefully patched it enough.

I'd get it on release day. There should be enough content within it to last you will Christmas at least, so you won't have to buy a new game for the rest of the year to keep you entertained.
