Long story short:

I can only have one.

Please avoid fanboy-ing. We are all rational gamers.

I hope...

Also, FIRST!

Out of those I would definitely go with Skyrim, and this is coming from a guy who generally doesn't care for Fantasy games.

Skyrim is probably your best bet if length is a primary concern. Saint's Row: The Third is a LOT funner though.

They... really are very different.

Are you getting it for console or PC? If PC, I'm gonna have to say Skyrim. Modding will extend its replay value and provide enhanced/different experiences for years to come. Yes, Saints Row 2 got a few mods and SR3 probably will too, but nowhere near what Skyrim already has.

But I guess in the end it boils down to, would you rather slay dragons (and zombies), or gangstas (and zombies, and cops, and random civvies, and furries, and...)?

Both good games; Skyrim is more fun with more possiblities and SRTT is too short and after spending 18 hours slapping thugs with a dildo it become boring.

If I can only have one...Something else: MW3 (trying to fight the addiction...but...must...reach 15th prestige... & make 11 year old kids rage quit).

also, you can't call FIRST if you're the OP.

I'd say go Saints Row 3, milk it for every moment of pure gaming fun it has, then in a couple of months, trade it in against a Skyrim :)

Skyrim will last for a long, long time. However, and I'll get hate for this, the sheer fun factor is far far higher in SR3. (All opinion is opinion, not fact.)

I would have said SR3 till I played it, the content got massive cuts and now they are selling it back as DLC... complete horseshit, not to mention the terrible balance issues.

Get Skyrim and by the time you finish it they will have a full SR3 pack out that will be worth getting.

Both are really good games. However, as fun as Saints Row 3 is, you will get more from Skyrim due to its massive size. Saints Row is still extremely fun though, and Skyrim is a lot more serious in comparison.

Apples and Oranges.

However if we were to compare the improvement through the sequels TES:Skyrim would win by a mile as SR3 was a major step in the wrong direction in it's franchise.

I love Saints Row The Third, but I was disappointed with it in the start. I would say Skyrim if you're into those kind of games. Saints Row 3 is good, but it's in no way great.

Chose somthing else just to see the pole results, seriously though i wouldnt hinge the potential purchase on what other people have voted, because its largly going to be a popularity contest, want some real advice, take a good look at any of the games your considering, watch videos on youtube, go read some reviews, above all else make your own choice dont just buy whatever everyone is saying, buy what you personaly feel will be more enjoyable/rewarding.

I've played both skyrim and saints row 3, completed the stories, messed around in the game world for hours and i can honestly say i enjoyed them both equally but for completely different reasons, i certainly wouldnt rate one over the other because it has more content to explore or a tigher focus on story elements.

Saint's Row was a disappointment. Skyrim was not. Yes, it didn't have a strong main storyline or characters, but if you've played the Elder Scrolls before, you didn't expect it to. But they were good enough, the trade-off is HUGE FREEDOM, and it is SO DAMN PRETTY.

Saint's Row 3, on the other hand, does not measure up to 2. 2 was good because it was silliness shining through the veneer of an otherwise apparently normal world. 3 is just wacky crazy all the time, you just stop caring.
