Well done to Rage supporters. I'm glad they made their point. And sure, it proved the power of the Internet, and so on.
But I wish a proper Christmassy song could have won! Like 'Merry Christmas Everybody' or something. Ah well, at least the masses are pretending they aren't the masses for once.

Heh...that's pretty funny. He he he. I don't really care about this kind of thing but the fact that Simon Cowell is getting all butthurt about it makes me laugh.

the reason christmas number ones should not be about christmas is the fact that i will buy a damn song based on whether i like it or not, not the subject matter of the song.

that said, the fact that Laura Marling's brilliant new single "goodbye england, covered in snow" is not number one, is a travesty.

Also, the fact remains that success will inevitably come from having a good songwriter, and no one gives a shit how much you can sing, which proves that the Xfactor is just a franchise.

as for Joe not getting a number 1, who gives a shit, sometimes second place is nothing to be ashamed of.

Lame.

I like RATM, but that's exactly why I think they shouldn't lower themselves to pathetic stunts like this.
They had nothing to do with it, as far as I know. It was two Facebook users who were sick of the X Factor always winning and they started the 'rebellion', as it were, without Rage even knowing at first. Then it got big and Rage found out and promised the free gig, and everyone joined it to stick two fingers up at Simon Cowell. But Rage weren't involved really, at least not at first...

i said on here that there was no chance this would happen, so naturally i was surprised when it was announced rage had won it. i'm mainly surprised over 500,000 people could be arsed enough to actually go through with it.

still, now they've managed it, i don't think i'm that happy about it. i'm obviously glad we don't have to listen to as much x-factor bullshit (not that i ever voluntarily listen to the radio or watch music channels) as usual around xmas time, but the whole irony of everyone following orders to vote RATM is hilarious. i mean, it's just people trying to be subversive and clever, which makes me want to disassociate myself with them.

also, if people think this is just gonna free up proper music they are entirely wrong, because it will take another one of these massive campaigns to oust the next pile of shite that will look like hitting number 1.

i don't even like most xmas music (and i especially hate as it's coming up to xmas and we have to listen to the same 6 songs on a loop - which actually happened in a bar i was in last night) and only around xmas time is any of it even bearable, but if an xmas no.1 is not an xmas song, then it shouldn't even be in the charts.

EDIT: i think it would've have been a better campaign to just complain, or spam simon cowell or something - i clearly don't know how to go about doing it - but basically say on mass "fuck you simon cowell" without giving him shit-loads of money.

Well, I was wrong. This wasn't as pointless as the L4D2 boycott.

You have all proven me wrong. Feel free to rub it in my face.
*rubs shit in face*

Too far?

I'll go get a tissue. :(
Thank you. I think I got some dirt in my nose. *blows out snot and mud from nose* Ew, it's sticky and it's moving. Hey... Is that a worm?

I thought it was fantastic that they won and I supported the cause. It's just a bit of fun after all. Hell, they aren't my favourite band but anything is more bearable than some cookie cutter ballad with and obligatory cheesey-choir-and-key-change-in-to-piss-poor-fist-clenching-schmultzy-chorus.

I think it's refreshing to see that people will still part with a bit of cash and band together to make a point
