Saying 'public opinion is all over the place on these newfangled systems' is a long understatement. I've seen people blasting the PS4 Pro, praising it, praising the NX, (rightfully) attacking Nintendo for not revealing it and...actually, I haven't seen that much praise or hatred towards the new Xbox One S, not much legitimate criticism anyway.

So I think we should maybe get some consensus on this. If you have (legitimate) criticism of the new systems, perhaps save it for the comments.

EDIT: "Poll: Poll:" Well screw me for trying.

EXTRA EDIT: As if that weren't enough, I forgot about the PS4 Slim as well.

I am strongly considering...*sigh....joining the PC crowd now

Now I am holding out the silly hope that what they are saying is actually true (games won't be exclusive for the "new" consoles and not the "Hyrule Warriors for the old 3DS is technically playable!" bullshit playable) but I don't see how that can possibly work. Either they'll be worthless because why would developers use the extra power that only half (is that generous?) their audience is going to be able to use or they'll make the old ones useless in which case I'd rather not get sucked into the Apple plan of releasing something that will be useless in 3 years.

I don't think the PS4 Pro is really all that pro, so no thank you.

Im waiting to see what the NX is, though it seems to be the only "new" system. All these terrible 'upgraded' systems however, can rot on the store shelves, cause it wont be rotting in my home.

Holding out for what the NX will be, predominantly PC gaming currently. PS4Pro? Nah, nothing Sony said about it would get me back into Sony?s arms. Scorpio? Microsoft burnt me with Xbox Live?s rather shoddy work over the years I played on the 360. If Nintendo goes pay to play with their online, may just forgo it all and stick with limited PC gaming.

I am mostly interested in my PC. However, I will end up upgrading to PS4 Pro eventually so I voted for that. They should have just waited on the new consoles launching. Everyone but them knew that. But everyone still bought them, so the market decided otherwise. It will be interesting to watch sales in the next 2 years.

As for the others, I have no interest in Xbox considering PC is now another microsoft platform again. NX, I don't know enough. I am watching it but I dont know yet.

I'll buy a Pro once my current PS4 kicks the bucket, OR sooner if they show off that it's actually a substantial upgrade, which doesn't seem all that likely.

The NX will only get an inquisitive glace if Nintendo actually brings some fresh, new games (or God willingly, IPs), but we know that's not going to happen.

I don't own a 4K TV and I have less than zero interest in Virtual Reality so I don't see the point of buying a PS Pro for slightly prettier games. A new console coming out does not suddenly make my PS4 games suddenly look like 8-bit NES era games and the Pro has no exclusives so I will stick with what I have.

I have a pretty high-end gaming PC so I see little point in getting either the PS4 Pro, Xbone S or the Scorpio, since I can play +90% of their games anyway, except they'll run, you know, better.

The NX might interest me, but that'll depend a lot on how its library turns out.

I might get a PS4 Pro if I'll be able to choose to run all games at 1080p/60fps.

I'm quite happy with my Windows 7 PC/WiiU/Bloodborne Machine thanks.

I'm going to wait and see what the NX brings though. I didn't use my original Wii much but I do love the WiiU. It depends on the library I guess. If they trot out a bunch of Mario games again I likely won't bother.

Personally I'd probably be sticking mostly to PC this gen, as the kinds of console games I like (3D Platformers, action-y-adventure type games, ect) seem to mostly be dead, but for better or ill most of my gaming buddies are PC-illiterate and have no interest in being otherwise. Can't say as I blame them, whatever the PCMasterRace may claim, the cost, time, and effort required to build and maintain a decent gaming PC is more than most non-hobbyists are interested in expending.

What I do find odd has been my friend's reaction to the Xbox One S. Personally to me it was a shrug and "Whatever". Good for someone who wants a new Xbox but nothing worth upgrading for. But a couple of my friends have upgraded their old XOne's for reasons that wholly escape me. None own a 4K TV, in one case they not only don't own a 4K but do own an old DLP with more stuck pixels than I care to count. I don't get it, but whatever.

In any event, I suspect that the gulf between gaming enthusiasts and the general population -- the kind who neither know nor care what "PCMasterRace" means -- who buy and play consoles, is a whole lot wider than most here probably think.

I?m sticking with my current Xbox One. Frankly, I was a little pissed when these new consoles were announced. The entire launch of the current gen 3 years ago was such a fucked debacle between all the anti-consumer policies, the back-tracking, the lackluster showing of launch titles and the subsequent years of remasters of last gen favorites being the best these ?next-gen? machines had to offer; how do they think they deserve our purchasing new versions of these consoles when the existing consoles haven?t even shown what they promised they were capable of? This move is them basically admitting they sold us a bill of goods back in 2013 and sticking their hand out for more cash. We early adopters were essentially sold prototypes while they continued developing what they meant this gen to be. Fuck that and fuck them unless they want to let me trade in my ?half-an-Xbox One? to shave off half the price of the ?Scorpio,? I?m not fucking with it. And if they try to sell the Scorpio for $500 again, they can eat a dick for SURE.

Commodore 64 is only the best if you liked long loading screens and games that crashed halfway through. You had to think ahead if you wanted to game in those days :). Good prices mind...well some of them were others I kinda wanted my money back on.

Seriously though I am not really interested in any of them. If NX turns out good and has games that appeal to me its gonna have to have a absolutely killer Ninty game that blows Zelda out of the water in comparison or have some support from good 3rd partys so it get s a good spread as just Nintendo stuff doesnt do it for me anymore unless they actually diversify their style more again.

As for a new/upgraded PC may do that although that has less to do with games and more to do with work but I dont have the cash for what I would need to upgrade to to make it worth it atm (expensive business). PS4 pro I hope I never have to upgrade to havent got enough use out of my PS4 yet and unless the PS VR games are amazing (doubt it) if I ever got VR I would likely get the Oculus on PC (or Vive if that wins by some miracle). Scorpio holds no interest (MS burnt a lot of bridges with me with their disastrous vision for the Xbox 1) and I would seriously only consider buying it if it had amazing games that far outperformed every other comparable price platform which I feel is unlikely since we havent seen much of a leap since PS1 to PS2 and even that wasnt that incredible.

Upgrading to new systems lost the allure for me around the PS2/GC/Xbox/DC era. Now I do it only when I have to as in have to if I want to play the games I would like to.
