You might have come acroos a commercial for the movie the box, and if you havnt, this is the question:

I have a button. If you press it, you will recieve 1 million dollars, but a random person around the world will die.

Im going to add this factor, though. The person that dies is outside of your family.

So would you press it? I dont think I could. It would scrape away at me throughout my life.

I'd press it so many times. I don't care if a few people die because I just got five million dollars.
I wonder if there's a limit to how many times you can press it.

Yeah.

High likely hood that the person was not living a good life, and I'd use at least half of the money to better other peoples lives, and or save them.

What's one life in comparison to a couple of hundred?

Now yes I know that logic is flawed, as it may ruin the lives of many more then 1, but nonetheless it'd still better many more.

This exact thread has already been done before /Search-Bar Nazi

On topic: No I would not, I don't think that the guilt would be worth the money.

Not on your life. I don't care how badly I needed the money you just don't kill people.

As much as I hate murderers, I feel that this one person's death wouldn't cause me much grief and my family and I would be very, very happy with one million dollars. Their happiness is more important to me than a stranger's life.

I'd willingly bear that burden of remorse to make my family happy, so yes, I would.

What if the box came with the Search Bar? Would you use it?

OT: No. For all I know that person could be the pilot of some plane. though there would be a co-pilot to take his position.

No, because I know how the story ends. (Hint: It was a Twilight Zone episode before it was a movie, and if the words "Twilight Zone" don't dissuade you, you've seriously got problems.)

I'll try not to get onto a rant about how we humans suck, but I would press it. I mean yeah, maybe someone nice will die, but life's a ***** :\ Everyone dies, some people die for less than one million, believe it or not (GASP). There was a guy killed for a pack of cigarettes. There was a guy killed because he owed a guy 4 bucks. A lot more where that comes from.

Press it, give it to charity - 1 person less < $1million to charity.

If you have to keep it... no.

Only if I can't be charged with a crime for pressing said button.

Besides, it'd be pretty damn funny to watch Barack Obama keel over from a heart attack while I heartlessly laugh from the big-screen t.v. room in my 7 story mansion.

That was coated in gold.

and chicken.

But if there were any gay stipulations to show "no bad deed goes unpunished" blah blah blah bad people pay for it jargon load of bullcrap, of course I wouldn't push it.

You know what? Screw this idea, screw everyone who thought it up,AND SCREW EVERYONE WHO MAKES POLLS ABOUT IT! Stop with it already.

I'm sorry,but i can't take this question anymore. I'm tired.

As for the button,no. Those deaths would be far from irrelevant thanks to Fingales' Law (which we all know as Murphy's law,but his one is an engineer-specific variety).

I would take a consequential look at it. If I pressed the button, one person got killed and I got a million, I could use atleast a few hundred grand at helping several people.
