You've seen the title. I am here to inquire about what your experiences are with that concept.
I'm not here to argue for or against it.

so tell me. Have seen women treated as morally superior and more trustworthy than men or is it the conceptual opposite for you. tell me your experiences.

IS THE MORAL SUPERIORITY OF WOMEN A DOGMA?

I think so. Stastically at least, men seem to be the ones that end up in trouble more often. Most parents will even tell their kids that if they are lost, and can't find someone "official" (cop, security guard, employee of establishment lost at) to go and find a mom, or at least a woman, as it is less likely that a woman would harm the kids.

Edit: That seems to be the generally accepted attitude. Not saying it's right.

More trustworthy? Hell no...

More Emotional.. probably..

More morally sound? Eh, its kinda 50/50. In trivial matters, guys seem to make better judgement calls. In emotional/people problems, girls typically make the better choice.

I would suppose the concept of women as being morally superior would be rooted in the concept of motherhood. The nurturing and life giving aspects of femininity being treated as more in tune with life, the world, and kindness in general.

But I can't say I have ever really encountered anything like that bias in real life, it seems to merely stem from some very ancient stereotypes. You would the think, in fact, that our modern society would still be more rooted in the later notion imposed by Judeo-Christianity of women being sexual and therefore immoral: leading men into temptation.

To be perfectly honest, I would say that sex has no bearing on moral character. My high-school has plenty of morally bankrupt people, both male and female. I know just as many heartless, shallow girls as I do hyper-masculine, immature boys.

Could do with a definition of dogma, I really don't know. I know what it means to be dogmatic, but I can't seem to fit that into a noun

It is untrue, but it is often upheld.

To who anyone who claims that women are morally superior, I'll simply reply, "They are more complacent"!

Both are untrue of course.

economically it has been proven that women are better loan risks than men but thatdoesn't have that much affect on social interactions.

Does anyone honestly believe that moral superiority is based on whether or not you have a Y-chromosome, or a second X-chromosome? It's true men and women differ in many personality aspects, but the ability to be of either moral stance is not one of them. It's understandable to associate men with more destructive acts since they're most commonly the ones in power, screwing things up, but a woman in power can be equally ruthless. (See: Queen Mary, Empress Wu Zetian) So I would say there's no moral superiority.

I honestly think that both the myth itself and the public holding this myth is both false.

Honestly from personal experiences I've met bad females and males, there is nothing inherit about being female that makes them have better moral character, period.

That being said, I think that it is also a myth that the myth is upheld by society. There may be a slight bias when it comes to statistically overall but more or less people will approach someone of either gender with a neutral judge of their character and judge them later. I have never come across someone who has judged me to be untrustworthy/evil/etc for being male and judged someone as being female as nicer/good/trustworthy etc. Everyone factors in other factors more often like clothing choice, appearance, current actions, etc.

So I don't think there is a social Dogma.

Also thanks for starting this neutrally

I think we're on equal levels, the girls tend to be a bit more dedicated (schoolwise, I've not seen much) on average, but I'll be damned if they start making it sound like one sex is smarter than the other.
I think it adds up as cultural pressures that form these things.

Morally superior? What planet do you come from? I've seen that just as many men getting a "holier than thou" reputation as women.

I think is just because, traditionally, men = masculine and thereby more threatening than women. Though in this modern era we are starting to see a gradual leveling out of that field, so I think we can safely say that train of thought is almost ready to be summarily be thrown out a window.

I think Louis CK summed it up the best. Paraphrasing "Men and women are both harmful, but in different ways. See, Men will fuck shit up, and Women...are fucked up! A man might chop off your arm and beat you with it, but atleast you'll leave you as a person in tact. A woman will just open your head and shit on your soul."

I don't know about everyone else, but in my experience, women have a higher capacity for moral 'evils.'

Men have a tendency for violent action, but for the most part, their straight up about what they do, which I can at least respect. Women, on the other hand, tend to tear people apart mentally, often in a back stabbing fashion.

It may be because I'm a guy, but I'd rather deal with a threat in my face, rather than someone tearing at me from behind.

That being said... it all equals out in the end.

I don't really think this is the case. How often do people assume that women lie more often, or are by nature dishonest?

EDIT: And how many instances of "women are evil backstabbers" or a similar variation will appear on this thread?

It is a dogma only if you are spineless and emasculated enough to adhere to it.

Women are humans, nothing more, nothing less. They do the same things as we do. It's not because they make bad decisions or pursue their whims selfishly, just like we men do, that they are morally worse.

The problem is the chumps, nerds, and average joes treating them like shiny, scary objects, and thus making them adhere to some fantasy code of moral superiority and perfection, ending up putting them on a piedestal because miss princesses can't do no harm, and ready to do anything like a sucker to MAYBE have them call them "cutie" someday.
