I've got full store credit at my nearby Gamestop and I'm not sure what I should get. I'm thinking either Split/Second or Splinter Cell: Conviction. The Escapist community has yet to let me down when it comes to game advice, except for that one dude ([a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view]You[/a] know who you are.) So yea, help me pick a game and if you have a better recommendation post that.

EDIT: I have a 360 if that helps at all.

EDIT 2: I also have a PC that can run most games.

I'd say Blur myself, if you're into racing. All the fun racing physics of PGR, combined with the powerups of Mario Kart, and the progressive leveling system of Modern Warfare 2. An absolute joy to play.

Conviction is an alright second choice. Make sure you have some buddies to play multiplayer with, and realize that it's a bit short...I'd suggest waiting on a price drop.

Last, Split/Second...the demo was meh, I've heard the game is better than the demo makes it out to be, but you can pick up Burnout Paradise for a third of the price...

And yeah. Burnout Takedown is the greatest racing game I've played. Go for this if you can.

I'd agree with rated on this one, haven't heard much about split/second but racing isn't my genre so I can't really comment further

I enjoyed conviction but it was a bit on the short side, and I felt like I wasn't playing a true splinter cell game because it was much more difficult to do things stealthy, but I didn't spend too much time retry to get it right so I could have just been doing it wrong.

Also my game crashed a lot, but I think I had my settings to high and it wasn't exactly legal...

the multi was a lot of fun though that was definitely a plus

I don't know anything about Split/Second but I played through Conviction and as said above, it's fairly short (but good enough to play through more than once, I found). You don't mention which platform this is for the matchmaking system for the multiplayer on PC was rubbish, and there's no way to communicate with the person you're randomly put in with which makes it a bit crap too. :-/ That said, I enjoyed it enough to recommend it.

Around the same time I bought Episodes From Liberty City, also very fun if you haven't already got that.

Split/second is nothing more than rental worthy, the race tracks get very predictable and boring very quickly, the time trails with a predetermined car are extremely frustrating and the rubber-band AI is worthy of rage with the white hot passion of 10,000 Spanish bachelors.

Split/Second.

Have you SEEN survival mode?

It's intense, awesome, and well...just watch...

I beat Conviction TWICE in 6 hours.

It's for Xbox 360.
In that case you won't have any of the problems mentioned above, so although short I imagine you'd get a lot of fun out of Conviction.

Great, now I have to google Split/Second.

Ah, I see, it's a... racing game?

Are you serious? I could go around kicking terrorist ass, or I could... drive a car.

Hell, I'm biased, I love the Splinter Cell series; I'm assuming you've played the others. Otherwise my recommendation would be buy them, play them, then buy and play Conviction.

Or if you can't afford them, just get Split/Second.
