Well with the old republic coming out this spring, I was wondering how many people intend to play it, if so what class are you intending to be. Please give your reasons.

I love the KotOR series, but I can't afford a monthly subscription, nor do I have a PC that's powerful enough.

I'd like to play it if I could.

Subscription based, so no.

Guild Wars 2 will scratch my MMO itch and I only have to pay for that once (excluding the inevitable expansion packs which I will probably still buy).

I would if there was a free trial period, but my computer's download rate is horribly slow, so no.

It's Star Wars.
It's BioWare.
It's Knights of the Old Republic.
It's Star Wars.
It's fucking BIOWARE.

and it just looks absolutely brilliant from the limited vids we have available.

I finally cancelled my WoW subscription last month. I just started playing RIFT (Amaaaazing MMO by the way), but that is just a heroin fix before SW:TOR comes out.

Neeerrrrd orgasssmmmm

:)

Yeah, anyway.. going Sith. Imperial Agent Sniper primary, Sith Inquisitor Assassin secondary.
(For now I think at least)

Yes, I hate star wars but I love me some BioWare.

Yes, I will definitely play it. I play WoW now, so I'll probably drop that for it.

I plan on trying out a couple different characters - a bounty hunter, and a Jedi specializing in lightsaber combat (can't remember the specific name).

I will give it a try to see what it's like. I really hope they do some kind of time-limited free trial. If they don't, I won't be playing. If they do have a free trial and it doesn't turn out to be all that great, I also won't be playing.
I have too many MMOs I'm looking forward to this year, and it's impossible to regularly play more than two, so SWTOR will need to really hook me.
I'm planning on trying Black Prophecy, Taikodom, The Secret World, Rift, and Salem, so I'm going to have to be cruel in dropping those that just don't make the cut. And as I said, anything that doesn't have a free trial won't even get the opportunity to try and keep me.

Depends when it comes out. If it comes out within the next 2 months, then no. I'll be too busy with Witcher 2 and Dragon Age 2. Plus I'll have no money.

If it comes out late summer/early fall, then yes. Because then I'll have money.

MMOs have their strengths and weaknesses but the reason why I would play SWTOR would fall under the MMO's weaknesses, so no.

Hate subscription-based gaming, hate most MMOs. I love BioWare, but that's not enough to make up for the other factors, unfortunately.

I'm leaning towards No at the moment.
Bioware's emphasis on solo content is unappealing to me. The more I see of the game the more it just looks...like many other MMORPGs I have seen and played in the past.
Granted, I am looking at an unfinished product.
I am still keeping my eye on it, but unless I find something much more impressive about it I think I'm gonna take a pass, unfortunately.

I want to get it but I don't really have the money. If I do get it I will probaby make a human imperial agent & human jedi consular. I might get to the character menu and change my mind.

I am going to try it. Almost every MMO gives a free month when you buy it, if I'll keep playing it depends on how good it is, and when the 40k MMO comes out.

I've not been a huge fan of MMO's, but one of the Doc's and Bioware said in response to the question "What do you think about ever making a KOTOR 3?"

the reply:
"This is KOTOR 3. And 4. And 5. And possibly 6 as well."

I got pretty excited. Depending on how much good story content there is, depends on how long I'll stay. I just have too many other things to do to grind properly or schedule for raid level content.

No, not really. KotOR was great for its stories and plot threads not just because it was Star Wars and it's hard to integrate that in a MMO. I dislike most MMOs and this might not be different. The fact that this is supposed to substitute for KotOR 3 is also something that puts me off.

Don't plan to play, but if I was to get back into MMOs, this one looks the most promising. So... well.. you never know.
