So my friends and I are starting up a new game of Dungeons and Dragons and I'm set on two different race/class combos. I'm thinking either half-orc (brawny) rogue (badass with a heart of gold) or a drow (two-blade) ranger (classic). Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm also really considering rolling a monk, thinking half-orc but if you can think of something better than post.

I couldn't really tell you which class/race you should pick, it really comes down to how you like to role-play. If you can't make up your mind, roll a dice =P

Half-Orc rogues are pretty good, at least in 4e. They're unusual enough in my experience that you can keep away from any unwanted cliches and make an interesting character to play. A Drizzt Do'Urden is a little too cliched for my tastes, but it's you character.

If you have a system for randomly rolling class and race it definitely can create some fun and interesting characters that you wouldn't have come up with otherwise.
