Out of these two Nintendo 64 games, which one do you prefer (assuming you've played both of them)? This round I'll say Super Mario 64, if only because I was never good at LoZ games in general. Never have, never will! If you want, of course, you can explain why you prefer the game you prefer.

M64 on the N64! YEAAAH!

No but seriously, I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more and still play it today :)

I've never found Mario particularly enthralling, with Super Mario 64 being the first I ever played, while I was instantly enthralled with Zelda from the moment I played Ocarina of Time. Still love them today, although I'm not crazy about the motion controls now.

Ocarina of Time. Both are good games but I found Mario 64 to be to short and easy even as a kid. I found I played OoT for much more time and I loved the puzzles in the temples.

I've beaten Ocarina so I guess it gets my vote by default. I've played through a lot of Mario 64 but honestly, I've never cared too much for Mario's 3D adventures.

Tough one... I loved both, really... but for length of playtime and replayability, I'd probably go with Zelda. Just slightly, though.

Seeing as OoT is one of my most favorite games of all time, I'm going to go with OoT.

Agreed. How is this even a contest?

I always struggled with the Legend of Zelda games as a kid. Something out the dungeons and what I felt was always back peddling, did not appeal to me. Most of the time I would just dick around in the game while my friend would beat the story. I would give it to Mario 64 both for its simple amusement.

Both were good games for their time, but OoT is still fun today. M64 can be fun too, but more in a nostalgic way.

As someone who has played and beat both, I don't feel like I can compare them side-by-side.

Mario 64 was a 3D platformer that tested your ability to move Mario around both horizontally and vertically with the ultimate goal to reach a certain point by taking advantage of your movement.

OOT was more like a game about following instructions as dictated by the plot and then solving puzzles once you got into dungeons. Instructions and puzzles. Even the combat was a sort of puzzle when you had to use certain items or time your blocks and strikes.

Both are awesome games, but I continually come back to Ocarina much more than Mario 64, so Ocarina for me.

Exactly they're 2 very different games so comparing them is a bit pointless.Personally I loved both of them for different reasons

I love both, but Mario 64 is a game I'd be happy to pick up and play almost any day of the week. Zelda games require a certain mood, I find.

OoT all the way; went through Mario once (it was fun, but), and completed OoT 8 effing times

Dammit man, why you gotta make me choose? They are both fantastic games, and from different genres as well so comparing them is hardly fair. Only way they are really comparable, at least in my mind anyway, is which game looked better and/or do you prefer Mario or Link.

If I had to say one though, I'd go with Ocarina of Time. Even not counting the 3DS version and/or Master Quest, Ocarina holds up a lot more than Mario 64 does today. Plus I've always needed to be in a certain mood for platformers, while the hacky-slashy-puzzle-solvey of Zelda always feels much easier to get into.

It's hard to choose. I loved both games. Not to mention in terms of gameplay and design, they are pretty different. So it's hard to compare the two.

If I had to choose though, I'd probably pick OoT.

Ocarina of Time for me. I've just had more fun with Link's adventures than Mario's most of the time, OoT being one of them when compared to Mario 64

That's a really tough one, but I would have to say that Ocarina of Time is the better game mostly because that I have been more in to the LoZ series and find that the controls are better, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong though, Super Mario 64 is an awesome game!
