Original was too rough. Good for the time, but the most basic of 'em all.
Fucking loved it, though. I broke my leg around the time it came out, so the memories of me in a cast are indefinitely tied to that title. The intro gives me goosebumps to this day, and I recall Mario/Fox/Ness being my mains.
Melee is by far my favorite to this day, featuring that "feel" that just feels...right. Everything is fast and has a nice amount of gravity pulling down on it. Damage launches people the right way. I played Fox/Link/Mario/Marth/Captain Falcon like a pro, while Ness was my "fun" character. I think I wore out a few GCN controllers with this title, and probably have a few months worth of time on it over the years. When the game was released, I was suffering one of the worst flus/fevers of my life.
Brawl was okay. Felt too floaty to me and a few characters were blatantly broken beyond belief, but definitely playable and enjoyable. The singleplayer was interesting, as was the method of unlocking a bunch of stuff. For this title, I played Toon Link/Mario/Lucas/Ness/Olimar/Captain Falcon the most. And hot diggity was Olimar fun/cheap to play as. When this game was released, I was almost hit by a car and lightning.
So with all that said, I'm quite excited about the next one.
Looks like it has Brawl's floatiness, but they've removed tripping and I can't quite comment on it due to not playing it or seeing too much of it. I'm quite confident that Villager and Megaman are going to be some of my mains, but no guarantees on the others given how they're shuffling movesets. Oh, and here's to hoping that the release of this game isn't the end of me! It's kind of creepy how each subsequent release is tied to an escalating level of misfortune...
