So the matchup is set, my question now is who do you think is going to win?

Will the 49er's tie the Steelers for most Owls of all time or will Ray Lewis complete his retirement tour with a Superbowl.

Also your predictions for how the game plays out.

Y'know, the Colin Kaepernick story is the one I think is the most interesting -- now that Brady is out, anyway -- so I've gotta go with the 49ers. Granted, it would be kind of cool to see Ray Lewis go out as a champion, but I'd really like to see this offseason play out with Kaepernick having taken over and winning for the 49ers.

I personally think this guy...

I kid. :p

I think the Ravens will give it their damnedest, but I think the 49er's will win it because their QB is just so good. I would like to see Ray Lewis leave with a ring, but I think even he will have a tough time dealing with the 49er's offense.

Superb owl? Like this?

Poking fun of spelling mistakes aside, is there anyone who saw this coming? I suppose the 49ers were somewhat favored during the beginning of the year but neither team were really expected to push this far.

WARNING: We're going into the trenches!

I'm kind of torn...

On one hand, the 49ers:
Kaepernick has proven himself to not just be a fluke. I can't believe how well this fella has been playing. He's got the RGIII run-ability (without getting himself hurt) and the throwing capabilities of....Tom Brady might be a bit much but certainly as good as an Eli Manning or one of those types of B-squaders. Their defense is fairly strong and their back just runs people down when he's actually healthy. Took a little luck but they've taken the NFC.

On the other hand, the Ravens:
I like Joe Flacco. I'm not sure why but he's always been considered a C-squad kind of guy when I've always kind of thought that he should be at least a B-squader. Ray Rice is a crazy good running back and their defense is on fire. The inspiration Ray Lewis is providing alone has turned this B+ Defense into a A+ defense.

Ultimately, I like The Ravens to take this. I didn't see them getting very far in the race but after beating The Broncos and The Patriots (the two obvious favorites), I can't really doubt that they're not the real deal.

I like superb owls. The way they can turn their heads is funny. I didn't realize people voted for superb owl of the year, though, especially so early.

Oh... wait... are we talking about something else?

Oh, this is about sports, isn't it? I'll just trust Marter's judgment on the subject, and I'll show myself out now.

Here's my predictions: Doritos will put out another cool commercial, probably featuring a dog, as for the rest of the commercials I have no idea. As for the half-time show who is it and can it possibly be worse than the Black Eyed Peas?

edit: did the research and it's amazing, they actually found someone worse. Beyonce is the half-time show.

Also the puppy bowl, please tell me there's a dachshund.

Hate the Ravens with a passion. Can't believe the Patriots lost like that. 49ers have to get up, Joe Flacco throws way to many iffy passes (although may need to rethink that statement after that second half) for liking and Colin Kaepernick has shown us he is indeed the real deal. Also my buddy put $100 on 49ers at $8 odds at the start of the year. It'll be his shout if they win.

A superb owl you say?

I'm rooting for the Ravens. And yeah, pretty much because of Ray Lewis.
But I have the feeling the 49er's will pull off the victory. Should be a good game either way - Showdown of the Harbaughs.

Ah damn, I'm always too late for these shenanigans.

OT: I don't watch football so yeah, I've got nothing to contribute to this thread.

I hate both teams so I'm going to go with the Stadium collapsing.
The Ravens, hate the 49ers.

It's never too late for shenanigans, never. :D

There's always room for bird or some type of pun.

Or you could say something like you want the Ravens to win because they're a bird that doesn't mess around. :D

I think the Ravens will take the Owl this year. Mostly because of the city of Baltimore at this very moment. No, scratch that, the state of Maryland.

So who is Tom Brady's wife going to blame this year? The receivers since Tom can't throw and catch at the same time? The defense since Tom isn't allowed to be a linebacker? The special teams since Tom REALLY wanted to try to return a kick but that jerk Belichick wouldn't let him!? The possibilities are endless!!!

Maybe the League since Tom isn't allowed to play and officiate at the same time. If we are on Tom Brady jokes; Tom Brady was seen throwing his helmet on the sideline in frustration, and that too got intercepted.

This thread is nothing like I was hoping it to be.

has rapidly become

Not having the slightest clue about what the rest of you are talking about, I shall take my owls and continue searching for a thread in which we are welcome. Good day, sirs.

It's interesting, how this years Super Bowl is a match between last year's division runners-up, isn't it? Me, I don't particularly care about any team, but, well...my view as an outsider with no allegiance or animosity towards any of the teams.

In the time when I've been forced to watch the NFL games (yes, forced, working in broadcast and whatnot, comes with the job[footnote]No, I don't actually get paid to just watch TV, it's not nearly as leisurely as it sounds...[/footnote]) I've learned both the rules of the game, and how to appreciate a good game. And both teams have shown some impressive displays, especially in the play-offs...I don't know, I think I'll be rooting and hooting for Ravens simply because they really are a team that play the full 60 minutes, and don't give up.

Or maybe because birds are closer related to superb owls than numbers-ers are.

PS: So there's a joke going around how Brady was upset after the match and tossed his helmet aside in frustration. It got intercepted.
