Poll: Targeting Women in Games

This poll was in response to another poll I read by MercurySteam (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.146466). It got me to thinking about how we (males) treat women who join in either RPG, board or video games.

In RPG, if someone did something odd, or irritating, I'd certainly would exploit it in-character, and use it as a brief comic relief. 9 times out of 10, however, its usually a female. I'm not ashamed of it, because it helps break tensions, but it IS at the woman's expense.

So, my question is: Are there some of us out there who intentionally go after women, for whatever reason? Why?

Men and women can both answer. I'd love to here from both sides.

I don't think I'd go out of my way to specifically kill someone because they were a women, if they were being a dick or annoying then I probably would but I'd do that if they were male as well.

meh, I'd just try to kill anything that gets in my way. In games, of course. (But not board games. I don't kill over a game of monopoly).
I don't really care about the player's gender, they are either my ally or my enemy in the game.

Sorry, but why would I do that? If a girl joins the game I'll treat her exactly the same as anyone else. But seriously. If a girl joins a game of whatever the hell I'm playing at the time then that's fine. I'll kill the girl just as equally as any guy, or possibly be killed by her just as equally as by any guy. I don't know any girl gamers (aside from through the Escapist). That's fine. I don't know many regular gamers anyway, my friends usually play a bit of PES or FIFA on our absent housemate's PS3 occasionally and that's it. But girls and guys are equal in gaming as in real life. Hence I'd hardly target them for being girl gamers. Deliberately targeting girls because they can't drive a fucking Warthog without checking their makeup in the rear view mirror, while oblivious to plasma rifle fire all around us and Brute Choppers closing in, now that's another matter... j/k

I treat all my opponents equally, irrespective of gender. If someone has done something to annoy me then yes I would retaliate harder but again that has nothing to do with gender, it's merely retribution and reciprocity of actions.

I believe I am an equal oppertunities ass kicker. I don't really care what shape your dangly parts are if my aim is to place my virtual boot in them with great force.

Granted, sometimes in terms of conversation I'll be a bit more polite to women but that's largely because in the past me not doing so has resulted in me pissing some bitchy girl off and a continuous flood of abusive messages (I'm not saying that all women are like this, it's merely a case of 'better safe than sorry').

I won't seek out to kill them but frequently, in Team FOrtress 2, I find myself focusing on healing any female players, sexism? Yes.

Not 100% sure I'm reading this right, are you saying that you deliberatly cause problems for female players in rpgs for a few cheap laughs?

The only people I'll ever victimise are people who are being utter tools.

I think its easier to just get EVERYONE, since you know, if you want more kills... why discriminate a particular gender?
