Had a question, if you're playing soldier or demo, and you blow both your victim and yourself up with the same explosive, do you consider that a net gain? or net loss?
Basically, do you feel your death is worth it if you take out someone with you.

It's a 1-1 K/D ratio if you care about that and think about it that way, but, consider this: if you kill the person, that's 1 less enemy that could attack your team.

So worth it. Although ideally, they wouldn't be close enough to blow yourself up on.

Was it a medic or sentry?
Then yes.

Was it a sniper, scout, or spy?
Then no.

Anything else is pretty much even.

Depends.

Did you botch a sure kill?

Are you about to get metaphorically ass-fucked?

Circumstances my boy.

Are you going to respawn faster or is the other one? If they respawn faster then it had better have been a medic or decent sentry, otherwise you just wasted your bombs and life.

Given the Soldier's tauntkill is self-destruction...

It got me the Geneva Contravention achievement :)

My team lost, incoming BLU's to kill everyone else off...GRENADE!

You know what's especially funny? When you are playing as a Soldier and go to rocket-jump, and end up killing some poor, unlucky soul who just happened to be nearby. Generally, if I am put into that position, I already have low health from the heat of battle. The resulting rocket, more often than not, kills me.

If I manage to take someone out with me, more power to me. If not, I've made a mockery of myself and I bet it was rather funny to watch from my teammates perspective. Ah well, off to respawn and then back into the fray. Blowing myself up usually comes by accident, but when it does happen on purpose, I just scoff at the screen and smile to myself.

Usually exclaiming "Well, that was dumb." A kill is a kill in TF2. That's a few precious seconds you have bought your team from harassment of that player you just killed. I'd consider it a "net gain," as you so put it.

In my time as demo anything that gets too close for some 'nade loses its head in short order[footnote]A Half-Zatochi that i named Tsumugari as an Okami reference, or an Eyelander named Rebellion as a Devil May Cry reference.[/footnote].

Other than that im a very devilish sticky trapper.

Soldier, im always aiming to juggle with rockets to get some usage out of the Reserve Shooter i crafted. Unfortunately with the game being F2P now pyros and scouts are rife and they get a bit too close for rocket laucnhers to safely bounce them.

I've been trying to get a taunt kill for ages...

I suppose the best bet is to find a scoped sniper.

Team Fortress 2 is a death matchy objective game with respawning and lightning quick rounds, with no consequences from rounds past.

If you aren't happy with bombing in as a Soldier and getting a kill you might as well not play.

TBH, being on the losing side gives you the best chance. At Overtime, switch to your taunt weapon and position yourself in front of the door. Spam Taunt while you can. (If you're Solly, try and time it)

Just in front of the door (start it on 2 seconds to go) sometimes works, but standing outside spawn is always a good bet.

If you can reach an Enemy TP exit though, Spam that Taunt ;)

Back to the OP, Ullapool Caber is ALWAYS worth it. Just to hear the rage.

Step One: Drink Bonk! Atomic Punch.

Step Two: Taunt with The Sandman while surrounded by enemies.

Step Three: ???

Step Four: PROFIT!

OT: I consider it to be a rousing success, unless it was a Scout I killed.

If I'm trolling with the Ullapool Caber? It's a win.

For all other times: Who has to travel farther to get to the spot where we died? If them: I gain. If me: I lose.

I'm more prone to attacking with low health if I'm defending our base, since I'll be back in that spot in less than 30 seconds.

Depends... The other day I had nuked a Red running off with my intel in the sub-basement area (2Fort Dusty2 map) as Demo, emptied all 8 Stickies onto the ground below the intel and waited until I heard another Red come in. Less than a minute after I planted the stickies a Red Pyro came in and tried to swipe the intel, so I simply right-clicked and took us both out before he could reset the time on the intel.

Really depends on the scenario most times. If the removal of the person helps the team then yes.

Also, if it's an Ullapool Caber kill the answer is invariably...

A draw. I don't mind mutually assured destruction though. So long as someone else dies it wasn't all for nothing.

I remember in one game I was playing demo with a regular set up + caber and kept facing off against an enemy demoknight. Every time he changed to sword to try and finish me off I would kill us both with the caber.

There was much raging.
